Help plz

I cant defend curl routes or basically any play across the middle. Zones havent worked, combo coverages are kinda ****ty, and man coverage completely blows. I've tried a few double spies. They work great defending the middle, but always leave an out route, streak or post WIDE OPEN. I play on Heisman and have QB Accuracy set at 35 for both human and cpu AI but im getting murdered through the air by every team I play. My awr is set to 40, but even at 75 I still feel helpless when trying to defend the pass. Any help/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Yes!!! The cpu gives me better games than human 9/10. I have one offline dynasty with Hawaii and one with Florida. Have the worst or close to the worst passing D in both

Re: Help plz

Well with a school like Florida you should totally dominate. I use Michigan and I have always had SOLID players on D as you do with Florida so I can at least tell you how to play D with them.

First: Run a TON of man, lots and lots of man and mix up the different man coverages.
Man press cover 2 (check your press coverage ratings)
Man press cover 1 (probably best/most consistent D vs CPU in game)
Man blitz with OLB out of 3-3-5 ******
- this is my base D and its SUPER effective vs CPU as it forces the CPU to get rid of the ball SUPER fast. Call the 3-3-5 blitz (top right play on first screen) and spread the LBs and the DL OUT. Then manually control the OLB that will auto shift if you don't control him. Get him just outside the DE and manually rush up field and around the OT with the speed button. This will force the CPU QB to throw the ball fast. I mix up hot routing the MLB to zone vs the play called blitz.
- call the top left play on this screen as well that blitzes only 1 OLB. Tyipcally flip play so that the blitzer is on the NON TE side as I have better chance of getting to QB through a RB vs a TE. Again shift DL OUT and walk that OLB outside. You might not get a sack the whole game but you WILL SPEED the QB into a bad decision at some point which will flip momentum.

My last game against Florida in the swamp I blitzed on over 66% of the plays but only got to the QB once in the entire game. However, I believe it greatly helps to cause the QB to make bad passes and flip momentum. For me D is all about momentum and taking it from the CPU QB.

I also call the 3-4 PINCH when I am pretty sure the CPU will run. I shift the D-Line OUT (not much happens in this formation) and then I might hot route the MLB in man coverage to blitz pending on down/distance/field position.

This is the base of my defense. Key is to get OLBs with SPEEEEEEEEEED and SS who can freaking tackle and read plays. The SS is the key to this D IMO since they will typically be unblocked and make the tackles in the run game as well as having to cover in the passing game. They simply have to be able to tackle and decifer the play quickly and the 3-3-5 is the best D in the game vs. CPU IMO.

Oh, make sure your FS can tackle. I have done a season with both extremes now and I am of the opinion that a FS who can tackle is superior to a speedy FS who simply bounces off tackles. Sure the slow guy can't run down the HB who turns the corner but if you have better tacklers on the field you will have fewer HBs turning corners to run down.

I forgot to say that when you call man cover 1 press, take the LB in zone coverage and take away the middle of the field... this will make great things happen for your D.

Thanks. I will try this. I have been playin alot of zones since they seem to work so well against humans. I will switch my base from a 4-2-5 to a 3-4 for my next game

make base D 3-3-5 if you have decent Strong Safeties. You get a 3-4 formation in that set.

zone is best for humans since a human has to read the D. It sucks for CPU since the CPU is god in the game and doesn't even have to see its outside WR's to throw the ball. man is the key if you have the horses to play it which florida easily has. get pressure on the qb with those godly OLBs they have.

This should work for my Warriors too. My defense is young and dumb but they have high coverage and speed ratings so I should fair well against the Pac 10 beast s this year

Lol yeah people say it takes no skill to play with Florida. I beg to differ because when you drop awareness for human ai and factor in the fact that alot of the Gators players have 55-70 awareness it becomes a problem. They're very talented but dumb as door knob.

then just make sure you don't make your DBs cover long... blitz, blitz, blitz.... that blitz out of the 3-3-5 where all 3 LBs come that I describe above works VERY well vs. the CPU after you rattle the QB. Just because you might get knocked around with it early don't go away from it. Its a very HIGH RISK but HIGH reward defense. I give up a 70+ TD play at least once per game but this D eventually will win me other the momentum at some point and then its game over for the CPU. key is to not throw picks while waiting for the CPU QB to implode. This sometimes doesn't happen until the 3rd quarter but it almost always eventually happens.

The blitz is cheese!!! Na just kiddin. Lol. I got 9 total sacks in my Florida game with Hawaii. Thats probably due to their lack of OL. But either way, its 9 sacks! Used to be 2-3. Sometimes none at all. And yes at one point they all do implode. The Gator QB went 12-13 through the first two drives and threw a single pick. After that I started the blitzing and he ended up 18-33 with 3 picks and a fumble. He had ALOT of yards off of those completions due to the fact that my corners bit on the SAME jet sweep PA everytime it was ran. I know for a fact they scored twice off of the same play
