Re: NCAA 09 Gameplay Issues (response from EA)

FWIW, I'm talking about offline play.

I'm really making an effort to improve my running game, but holes aren't opening and the defense just swarms and wraps me up before I can even get going. Bouncing it outside is simply not an option, but even up the middle I'm getting hit for 1-2 yard carries even with the best backs in the game against mediocre opponents.

What are your "keys" to running the ball successfully?

Re: NCAA 09 Gameplay Issues (response from EA)

1. improved D-line effectiveness (will probably make a difference for the entire defense)

2. tougher kicking meter

...fix those things and this game will be good imo

And I'm pretty sure the sliders are...to put it nicely..."ineffective" in remedying any of this.
im sorry but i cant agree with that.

now im new to NCAA. the only time i ever played the game was like 02 or 03 or something. i just rented the game after hearing alot of you guys talk about how u like the game so much.

The defense is NOT broken. the cpu % are too high and at times it irks me but i never felt helpless on defense. now on default the pass rush is non existant but i bumped my break block slider to 100 and im getting some pressure now. it still needs tweaking but its at least workable now. i have played 5 games against the cpu and most of then have been low scoring games except for a 28-27 win in overtime ( im USC).

AND YES IM PLAYING ON HEISMAN!

For the love of God, PLEASE fix the QB percentage issue! Jeeze......this is ridiculous! I could care less about the roster stuff, but when you feel totally helpless on Defense THAT is a problem. I run all kinds of different schemes too....it isnt that I don't know how to call the correct coverage, it is that it doesnt work!

Well I'm going to say you're still not calling the correct coverages Diddy. In this year's game (crazy as it sounds) but you must attempt to force the cpu to throw deep. That means calling tons of Cover 2 and Cover 3 Zones that have multiple guys defending the short routes. I know this works...I've played over 10 games on Heisman and I'm yet to give up over 30 points in those 10 games.

If you search back and read some of my posts, I think it will help anyone that's complaining about Defense. Defense is alive in NCAA, some of you are just not finding it. I'm not saying the game is 100% perfect, it's totally far from that, but calling the right defenses combined with good user skill, you'll have success.

You must get off the D-Line if you are playing there, and you must take away the cpu's 1st/2nd Passing options. Just start with taking away the 1st option. You'll see a dramatic difference.

I promise!

Aside from the kick return game I havent really encountered anything you guys are tallking about. I get awesome pressure when I go for it and the cpu gets crazy pressure on me. They throw long passses against me a-la tebow to stinkin harvin. The cross routes get cheap but I mix up my base 4-3 really well and get a lot of knockdowns. Running the ball is fine, tough but I get my yards and i win the game I should and get dealt a challenge when I should. Look I think everyone might be comparing this game to old ncaa and that cant happen. This years game feels more like you need to know what your doing to be good. you cant do the ol same bread and butter play. I am not saying there isnt any problems, I just havenseen or maybe havent really paid attention to the ones like auburn alumni has seen or pared. I am on the PS3.

That's why I thought this year would be different. I just don't understand.

I've given up on EA football.
I'm with you bro.

Looks like I'll be passing (no pun intended) on Madden again unless it gets GLOWING, RAVE reviews from guys HERE, not IGN... not GAMESTOP... certainly not METACRITIC.

I bought NCAA knowing the issues but I see things that weren't a problem last gen with the AI.

The CPU AI just let the clock tick away in a tied game with under 2 minutes and 3 full timeouts (at the 10). Instead of going for the stops and calling a TO to try and get the ball back knowing I'm going to try to score and win the game on a FG. Things like this really kill any enjoyment for me.

At least they called a timeout to "ice the kicker." It's like I have to try and notice the little improvements or else I'll just give up on the game.

I honestly can't see it when guys are like "OMG this is the best NCAA ever and I'm having the most fun!" Boggles me.

It's just some basic fundamentals of the game aren't there. Look at the posts from various guys on the forum; They do a good job of breaking things down with pictures and examples.

I just read a post where someone posted pictures of two offensive lineman turning around and facing the backfield right after the snap. THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN. They will still eventually pick up a block or two but goodness... it just doesn't happen in football.

That's the most frustrating thing that people are referring to. Simple fundamentals and dumbed down AI. I will say the game is better now that we have at least a general idea on what sliders actually do what. (I won't get started on that mess. Ugh.)
