I agree, no penalties is a pretty big issue. Having to deal with 1st and 20, or having a 3rd and 5 turn into a 3rd and 15 is a pretty major happening that just doesn't occur in these games.

With the penalty sliders maxed, there should be 20 or 30 (or more!) penalties per game, not 1 or 2. Sheesh.

Once again this happens at least once or twice every game I play. WTF!
it's been discussed here by the devvs that the replay is recorded iat 30fps while gameplay is 60fps.

you will notice some anomalies on replay (dropped frames) that look impossible but that did not happen like that in the game

Ian first off I would like to say that I think that it is great that you guys are finally looking to the consumers for feedback on your games.

The biggest problem I see from NCAA both this year and past years as well as with Madden is the lack of learning by the CPU. I was very impressed with NHL 08 with how the AI would adapt to strategies taken by the human player. For example if a player continually looked for the one time pass into the slot, the AI would start to put a defender in that path to stop that strategy.

This is the type of improvements I have been looking for in NCAA and Madden. Too often I can win games on Heisman or All Madden by simply picking one or two plays and continually running them over and over. If the AI had some type of learning mechanism where it remembered the plays I run and the third or fourth time I come out in a certain formation they would defend for that specific play. For instance, if I run a three wide receiver set three straight times and I hit the slot receiver over the middle every time, if I run this formation again they double cover the slot receiver.

The same is true on defense if I continually blitz the strong safety every play try to hit the wide out deep or the running back in the flats. Just Make some adjustment to counter act the play I have been continuously running.

I remember in Madden 07 my roommate would call engage eight every play (were everyone blitzes except the two corners and safeties) on all Madden and he never lost to the CPU. If the AI would just look for the quick outlet pass the third or fourth time would be great.

How does that not look bad?
I don't blame you guys for having hope, but AuburnAlumni is right. This is inexcusable.
I, too, feel like Bart Simpson in the Kamp Krusty episode hoping that Krusty will come to Kamp. But I'm losing hope.

Watch the video again.

Dave the defensive player had his back to the ball the entire time and also committed to his man to man assignment. There is nothing wrong with the defensive play in that particular video *proof below*.

I don't see anything wrong with this play in terms of defensive execution (maybe LBzrule can correct me?)...I guess the problem I'd remark on is the QB is always making the perfect read and you're seeing plays like this all game. He times the deep in perfectly and hits the guy right when he cuts. I guess I don't see this as shocking when you've got everyone in man.
agreed. I watched the vid the first time and didnt see anything wrong. It wasn't until I read the complaint then I could see where he was going with his argument. BUT, I dont want players who have their back to the ball, turning around like they have eyes in the back of their head.

Nice work, madden. Complaining when the AI does something wrong is one thing; to complain when it actually does something right?

This isnt helpful at all. No game is going to be perfect. Every sports game Ive ever played has bugs/glitches that need to be fixed.

Exactly...and this has been an issue for more than 5 plus years. Ian, I think its time to fix this.

Re: NCAA 09 Gameplay Issues (response from EA)

Well I am now slider testing on VARSITY because, honestly, I've given up on All American and Heisman. There is just no Defense..at all.

It is flat out Depressing that I can't enjoy having highly rated Defensive players. They don't matter.

Sen'Derrick Marks is a 95 rated Defensive Tackle. He should be a disruptive force out there. He should have plays where he BLOWS by the Guard or Center trying to block him and kills the QB. He should be in a QB's face a TON. And if Auburn is facing a Creampuff like Utah State, then guys like Marks and Antonio Coleman should be LIVING in the Utah State backfield.

They don't.

Ian, I just want to actually FEEL like having a dominant defense means something. I'm not wanting the moon. I just want highly rated Defenders to actually play like it.

Florida was held to SEVENTEEN points and less than 300 yards by Auburn's defense in 2007...IN Gainesville. The 2006 Florida squad, which won the MNC, was ALSO held to 17 points and less than 300 yards.

It IS possible to have both great offenses AND great defenses in a game.

I don't care what offense I face, if I am a solid player and I come out with Auburn or LSU or USC or another great defensive ball club, that offense SHOULD NOT be able to put up 40+ points on me every single game. They just shouldn't.

It's extremely frustrating to see play after play after play after play of D Linemen and LBs getting flattened, pancaked, and flipped on their heads by O linemen, TEs, WRs, and RBs, many of whom are rated 20-25 points LOWER than the supposed All Conference or All American caliber defenders that they competing against.

I understand the whole motto of "Wide Open Gameplay" was this year's tag line. But honestly, to completely destroy the AI on defense, take away the aggressiveness of blitz packages, take away agressive DB AI (not warping, but by god, a big time corner should not give up hitch routes over...and over..and over...and over.)....it's upsetting.

Just make it fair. That's all I ask. Make it BALANCED and FAIR.

Oh, and please....

GET RID OF JUMP THE SNAP.

Honestly. This feature is just completely unrealistic and cheesy, especially after playing 9 games on difficulty levels ranging from Varsity to Heisman and seeing LITERALLY 15-30 "Jump the Snaps" pop up on screen each game when I'm going against the CPU Defense.

If you can't get rid of it, tone it down immensely. Thanks.
