Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

haha funny thing just happened...

im trying to figure out how to do custom sounds and what not so i let the game do CPU vs CPU

Its Ohio State vs. Michigan

First play of the game #13 for Michigan takes opening kickoff to the house.

EDIT:: Now OSU has returned the favor with an INT to the house. 7-7

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

this could have already been posted already, but everytime the opponent does an onsides just run as fast as you can to the left and then cut up field. If your guy has 85+ speed it is a TD everytime.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

Just finished my first game. Here are the stats.

Louisville @ WVU All-American. INT sliders at 0. CPU QB acc. at 30. Knockdows for me at 70.

Score 17-34

Total Off. 204-326

Comp - Att - TD
18-25-1 16-25-2

Pass- 196-249

TO: 3-1

Punt return yards.
0-8

Total yards
431- 428

Punts
1-37 1-38

QB's

White: 166.0-16-25-249-2-1 64%
Lou: 127.0-18-25-196-1-3 72%

First Impressions:
First thing I will say is I have noticed some of the issues that have been brought up. CPU QB comp % is high. Lots of over the middle passes, but not every time. Average starting position on kickoffs was about the 35. Hard to get pressure on the QB

Positive notes.
I saw the AI DB jump a curl route and picked me off.
2 Sacks, 1 user sack.
Running game is great.

For me it wasn't a score at will game. It was 10-7 WVU at the half. I had alot of trouble getting Devine going. He ended up with 67yards rushing. Lousville stepped up and made some nice defensive plays as did I.

Does the game have issues? Yes. Are they game killers, No.

Bottom line after one game.
The game is FUN. Pure and simple. I had a blast. The game is very much improved over 08. So much smoother. The issues are somewhat bothersome but to me it doesn't take away from what is EA's best next gen football effort. I think once the patch comes out and the issues are fixed this game will be simply amazing.

If you are on the fence, buy the game. You won't regret it.

P.S. I did forget the mention that the CPU threw deep on me one time, It was about 40 yards in the air but underthrown, I jumped up and snagged it for a pic.

PPS I know this may not sit well with some people but I believe that if you don't like this game, you don't want to like it.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

Played my first game as Marshall hosting Baylor on 7 minutes Heisman. Felt a lot like last year with some better visuals and animations. Everything seemed pretty solid. The only things I have seen are lack of pass rush (too early to tell after 1 game but just based on what I'm hearing) and the return game.

I might tweak passing on both sides as it seems a little easy. Yards on the ground were tough to come by. Some numbers from my game:

24-34 L

My QBs: 18/29, 310 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT
Them: 23/32, 281 yds, 2 TD, INT

Rushing yards were about 3 ypc on both sides. Not much action there. I had 0 sacks to the CPU's 3 although one was my fault.

I saw guys getting open on my D, but I also saw my secondary making some plays. It felt a lot like last year post-patch where there was more separation and less warping to the ball.

I had a couple long passes I just threw up and came down with, as well as a big play off a HB screen. Wide open gameplay is definitely in there, so it will be interesting to see if things get too easy. I felt like the moves I was making when returning or running in the open field were on Varsity level as opposed to Heisman.

I started a dynasty with nails' rosters and didn't edit any teams. I took Illinois on AA difficulty and whooped Auburn like it was my job 44-7 week 1. and I am up 28-0 against ASU week 2 with 2 minutes left in the 2nd quarter( I am using 5 min quarters right now)

I have 360. If you have any questions, just ask. But my defensive line (I control the DT usually) is in the backfield every play.

I did not adjust any sliders they are all on default.
You whooped (nice word, btw) Auburn 44-7 with Illinois and are happy?

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

Just played my first game on default AA sliders. I was Memphis playing at home vs Arkansas.

I ended up losing the game 30-19 despite leading 16-7 at half.

First off, the animations and colors are beautiful. Liberty Bowl actually looks like it.

I had fun playing, despite losing, because I didn't deserve to win. I had a few turnovers at bad times, missed a chip shot field goal, gave up some big plays, etc.

However, I will echo the sentiments about kickoff coverage as well as not being able to get a pass rush going at all. It's frustrating but I know that sliders will help ease the pain.

All in all, I'm glad I bought this game despite the early negativity, which had me worried.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

AA is easy, REALLY easy. I expect that I could be ANY team with any team on AA. Heisman is FAR more challenging.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

Ok guys, I have played two games so far, the first game was ou vs texas on varsity, and for all you vets out there, start off on all american , because i scored at will on the OU D lol. there were some issues i noticed with this game though. Yep the return game is bugged, the AI blocking for the return team looks like they are blocking against a pop warner squad out there. 2nd I noticed the REDONCULOUS cpu passing (YES REDONCULOUS), it drove me nuts in my second game, which was Florida vs. Tennessee on all-american. The Tennesse QB ripped me to shreds throughout the entire game (threw for 81% over 300 yards and 3 tds) and adrian foster accounted for 1/3 of his yards. It seemed like whatever i called, the rb was always WIDE open on almost every route. But the thing that annoyed me was how i was still able to win 58-21 even when the UT QB tore me apart. I threw for 81% as well with tebow without harvin playing (out for the game on the first play) Tebow is a man in this game lol, i pretty much relied on him to carry the offense, which he did effectively. Ill put up some vids later

Overall here are my impressions of this game:

1.Yes the problems everybody has been stating are true, but none of them are real game killers, just annoying nuances that occur every once in a while.

2. This game is a blast to play, I had a 102 yard int return for a td and it felt awsome! the fun factor of this games overlooks most of the negatives, and it created a very fun football expirience for me.

3. With the patch to fix the pass rush and cpu effectiveness, and the right sliders, this game will becoming something special.

if your're on the fence about this game, rent it, after your first few games you 'll know whether you like it or not.
