Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

I just had a pretty fun game against Wake as FSU in my dynasty. I went up 14-0 (sound familiar cb?) and looked like i was gunna sleep walk through. THey hit a FG, but right before half, i got greedy. With 4 secs left and on their 4, i threw a fade route to Carr that got picked (no return, but shouldve gone for 3).

They scored to make it 14-10 and we traded TD's (and they missed an XP) to get to 21-16. They had the ball with 2 min left and on a key 3rd down, i stopped them..........BUT i roughed the passer (my fault). They drove down to my 15 and on 4th and 4 with 38 secs left......they ran it. That was the only thing that got on my nerves. THey ran on 4th and 4 when they had 28 carries for 42 yards all game (no idea how to make CPU run game better, although i am FSU with their over rated D). I escaped witha 21-16 win, had a good time.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

I finally got "back in the game", I bought a PS3 and NCAA 09 this afternoon. I played a 5 minute quarter of UConn (me) vs Rutgers and Michigan (me) vs Ohio State. Default varsity, haven't touched a thing.

I love the passing, the touch-passing feels like it did on Xbox/PS2 which is a very good thing. It did seem a little too easy to pass over the middle but to be honest it doesn't seem all that much easier than the past 5 years. Drag/slant routes have always been pretty automatic in NCAA as long as a zone DE/LB doesn't slide underneath and pick it off.

The pass rush was non-existent but the two DL's I controlled were awful IRL anyway.

The menus are way faster than last year which is very nice.

I couldn't run to save my life so I didn't get a chance to see the pursuit angle issue.

The graphics, esp the stadiums and lighting, seem drastically improved from 08, IMO.

The game seemed pretty damn slow, even when holding speedburst down.

I'm sure as time goes on I'll notice some of the gameplay bugs but even with those it's not hard to see that this game is very close to being a great, great game.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

I don't get it, i've been using the thumb sticks to control extra on the fly defensive schemes and it's been working great. i am using a particular slider set by sportsgamers but it's been fairly realistic and so forth. At first i DID have all the issues everyone was having but I just improved at it as if to get hang of the controls of the game and thats all. see no real problems unless you are SUPER GOOD and don't play that casually. this game can not have sim results and to be honest it's be quite hard to with any sports title this next gen as they are trying to make their game GOOD overall for the casual and enthusiast.

hate to say it but we got some WHINERS

i change my score by saying this game was an 8. i might go 9 now because it looks good plays good and has some great animations going on . most realistic tackling i've ever seen!

Just up the running back ability to like 70 or so and that speed burst will open up stuff...

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

In my New Mexico State dynasty I managed to pull out a close win in Nebraska (Man do the Huskers ever suck in this game) but ended up losing Chase Holbroock for the season with a broken elbow in the third quarter.

Next game I ended up winning a shootout 42-38 against UTEP in the in The Battle of I-10. It was no thanks to my QB play, the defense and my RB stepped up huge. It's horrible to lose a player like Holbrook in just the second game of the year, and I've lost a couple of other starters already as well. I've been rotating the two youngsters that were behind him on the depth chart but I haven't been able to get any consistency with them. Hopefully one of those QB's will be ready for the brutal three week span where I have, Boise State, Hawai'i, and Fresno State.

Re: Official NCAA Impressions Thread (360, PS3)

Im not saying im the god of NCAA, and im not saying it doesnt have issues (ive seen them too many times) but, in my offline dynasty, using NJPapi's sliders (as well as some tweaks), im only giving up 13.5 points a game. Granted im playing as FSU with their over rated defense, but even then, defense jsut feels weird.

I call zone d's 90% of the time, and just grab the MLB and sit in the middle. If the CPU cant go over the middle, they become inept and throw sideline routes and short routes, and its fairly easy to shut them down. Has me kind of frustrated.

The other issue i have (and this is bc of me) is i never seem to have a ton of passing yards. Maybe im a run first guy and dont go deep, but i dont know what it is. Inf act, my last game against Miami, i went deep about 5-6 times (deep = 25+ in the air) and completed 0 (Carr dropped two wide open passes and promptly found himself on the bench).

Any tips on throwing deep, playing d, or CPU run game?
