I'm pretty new to this Paint Shop and Photoshop things....does anyone know how i can start out in making my own cover design? What steps i take?

I did two of them. Click the link to see them but I can't access the actual address right now. My IE 6 works like crap at work (I prefer firefox) and photobucket is usually blocked by my net nanny. If someone want to grab those two images and link them here be my guest.

This is using Adobe Photoshop. Once you get one done, it is easy after that.

You have to make sure the Layers are turned on first in order to make changes (Click on Window and make sure the Layers option has a checkmark beside it). If the Layers are turned on you should see a separate box with all the Layers in it which you need open. Once you have the basic NCAA template open in Photoshop, you need to replace the layer of the blank player with the picture you want in there.

The basic template when opened in Adobe Photoshop should have roughly 6 layers. The second last one is the blank player I think. You want to switch that with the picture you have so open the picture you want to use WITH Photoshop (right click on the file and use Open with Adobe Photoshop). Now you should see both the template open and the picture you want to use next to it. Simply click on the picture (make sure its active by clicking on it first) and drag it over to the template. You should see the picture added as an extra layer if done correctly in the layer box. Click on that layer and then you can move the picture around to center it. To delete the layer of the blank player, simply click on the layer with the blank player to make it active and select LAYER... Delete.. Layer.

You can save the file as an adobe file and then you also need to use the Save As feature (change format to JPEG) and save it as a .jpg to use as a picture. You're done!

Layer Notes: The layers listed first (at the top) in the Layer box will appear "on top" of the lower layers so you can drag your picture up and down to change it but you want the logos for EA Sports and NCAA 09 to be above it so the picture you chose is used as a background. If you want to recenter the EA logo just click on that layer and use your mouse to drag it around.

Warning: You need to have a large picture to make this work. It needs to be at least 475 pixels wide and at least 650 pixels long if I remember correctly. You will probably have to resize your picture to make this happen. To resize the picture you want to use to make it bigger, you can do that in Photoshop by making sure you have the picture active (not the template), click on Image.. Image Size and then enter 475 in the width area (or 650 in the height area) and hit OK. You can then drag the image over to the template.

Cropping: You can use the magnetic lasso tool to do a quick and dirty crop of players but I hate doing this. You are on your own if you want to cut out players lol.
