You can stream stadium sounds without burning a CD

If you previously setup media sharing between your main PC and your Xbox 360 via Windows Media Player 11, it is much easier to stream over the network instead of burning a CDR. The only problem is that the game accepts playlists so you will have to create your own .m3u files for each event and then share on the network.

What I did was created a FSU Stadium Sounds folder on my PC and used Notepad to create m3u files linking to a song. For example I created a FG is Successful.m3u file and typed in the name of the FSU Fight Song.mp3 mp3 in Notepad and saved with a .m3u extension in the same folder. From there I went into WMP11, went to Monitor Folders, and then added the FSU Stadium Sounds folder as one to monitor and share with my 360. It can be work creating new .m3u files for each event (which are playlist files) but it seems to be a way to get them into the game without using a CDR.

I went back into the game and my .m3us now showed up in the Stadium Sounds section of the game and I am good to go! Quick and easy!

In the picture below, the 1st Down Conversion playlist shows up twice but it should only show up once if you only created one file. Its listed twice for me because I was testing out multiple playlists and WMP added it to its database automatically.

Nice find, thanks for sharing Specially helpful for those that have issues with the 360 not ripping every song off a disc.

I'll have to try this out.

Yup.The playlists show up in the dash boards but when I get in game its not an option. My guess is because the songs are not ripped on the harddrive.Whats up t3g?

Yeah that is what I was thinking too. Because the default "Xbox 360 Custom Mix 1" is the only one that shows up. I've even tried manually making the playlists on the dashboard while streaming the music but I get an error saying that it HAS to be on the HD

Yeah I figured there was something different you have to do to get this to work. If you look closely the directions are much different than what we all have tried.

T3G can you give us a step by step process or a walkthrough on how to do this? That would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: You can stream stadium sounds without burning a CD

In the 360 dashboard, you need to first make sure that your 360 can talk to your PC. In the full mode of Windows Media Player 11, there are tabs at the top that say Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, and Sync. When highlighting the Library tab there is an arrow below the lettering that you click to open up a new menu with Media Sharing... in the list.

If your 360 is setup on the network, an Xbox 360 console icon will show up with a green checkmark next to it if you select Share my media: where you then say Allow to give your 360 access. You can also click on the Settings button to give the media share a name and specify what content you want to share (Music, Movies, Pictures) and then click OK in both areas.

I recommend creating the .m3u files alongside the .mp3s in your stadium sounds folder before you start the media sharing process. Otherwise you will have to wait for the WMP sharing to refresh automatically (could take half hour to an hour) or you may have to go back and refresh manually and have it recognize your modified .m3u playlists.

After your 360 has been recognized, return to the Library tab and now select Add to Library from the drop down list. Here you can manually add a folder to your Monitored Folders (like the one with my stadium mp3s and m3us) and click OK. From here, WMP will show a box saying that it is searching for media to add to the library and will add newer files.

Now with WMP11 having the playlists and mp3s in its media library and sharing on the network, go into your 360 dashboard and under the Media blade select Music. If you have to, press X to change your storage device and if you setup your media sharing correctly on your PC, the bottom option will say like "John's Media" or whatever name you give it. If it shows up, click it and look under the Saved Playlists option. If your playlists showed up correctly for each stadium sound, then you are good to go and can pop in the NCAA DVD and customize your sounds. If they do not, you may need to refresh your media library in WMP11 on your PC.

FYI, a sample playlist when opened up in Notepad looks like this for my 1st Down Conversion on 1st or 2nd Down.m3u file:
Code:
#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:-1, 1st Down Conversion on 1st or 2nd Down
FSU BOP.mp3

Re: You can stream stadium sounds without burning a CD

I did exactly that but it just won't show up in game.It is on my xbox dashboard though.I did rip some sounds from a CDR prior to this and even set up some events in game with it.Do you think maybe it won't come up because by default, its only looking for the ripped sounds?
