Impressions

Have the game. Uploaded a few tracks.

First of all, something I feared has come true: it's going to be a pain getting all the files to match up with the rest of the sounds from the game. Specifically, my Victors file that I got from YouTube totally blows; it's just way too quiet and has zero bass. A couple other files are also too quiet, while others are too loud. We'll need to take some time and make sure that all files are equalized.

Also, the idea some of us had about getting files that sound "live" doesn't seem necessary at all. The better the quality of the file, the better it sounds. Just something about the way it's piped into the game, there's no need to worry about that - just get the best sounding file.

Overall, though, it's absolutely awesome. Hearing "Let's Go Blue" after first downs and "Iron Man" after sacks and TFL's is everything I hoped it would be. Now I just need to tweak/find some better files and I'll be off and running.

Length is good. The file triggers and continues to play until the next play starts. We knew this, but having heard it in action, I can say the longer the file is, the better. A couple of my files are much too short, that is.

One other thing I should mention is that you cannot preview the tracks. You have to just upload them and then start a game to hear them.

Another minor annoyance: the first thing it asks you for when you're uploading is which team the file is for (or you can select "all," but I don't quite know if I'd want to do that). So, in other words, you have to scroll through all the teams (Michigan being right in the middle) each time you put something in. No biggie, but it's been a pain.

Guess that's about it. The feature is everything we hoped, rest assured.

Re: Impressions

Thanks for the info, I knew that this feature would just bring us that College Atmosphere we have been craving.

Excellent.

THIS is why I was telling folks to avoid fightmusic.com and only post high "CD" quality sounds.

Tomorrow morning, the Auburn Marching Band is gonna sound Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!

Re: Impressions

I am loving this feature. I actually wait 10 seconds to kick off so I can let the OH IO sink in.

Re: Impressions

One thing that kinda sucks: the "defense on 3rd down" and "defense on 4th down" files don't start playing until the offense breaks the huddle, and since the CPU snaps the ball like two seconds later (ha ha), you only hear those files for a couple seconds.

Would be better if the files started playing after the play (2nd down, e.g.) instead, so you'd get to hear them while you were choosing your play.

Yeah, you're probably good with 30 seconds, but like I said above, just use the whole 60 when you can, it doesn't matter. The fade-out the game uses is much better than having the file end abruptly (which is very noticeable when it happens).

EDIT: One more thing. I'm still a big miffed about the "getting the files to match" thing. I just came across this:

All Michigan fans will know, that's something we need! But where in the hell am I gonna get it in high quality? Seems like I may have to just bite the bullet and have some files that sound better than others.

I'll bet this can be patched. Need to remember to add this to the list.
