Re: FistofRages's 2010 Heisman Slider Discussion

Update, pretty much the AI run game is too easy to stuff. Played a few games with human run defense at 5 and I held Ohio State to 73 yards on 33 carries and Oregon to 20 yards on 20 carries both games on the road as Michigan State.

Going to try bumping up the run block sliders for the AI and that seems to have helped. Got to be careful on special teams because they can break long retruns easily if not careful because of this, but the AI can't seem to find a run game regardless of how low you set the rush defense.

Maybe its just me but so far im finding that the QB acc slider really only seems to affect my QB. I havent seen to many bad/errant throws by the CPU even if i lower it to 10. If i lower the WR catch slider to, say, 35 in conjuction only then do i get a decent amount of incompletes by the CPU, but again those are mostly drops.

I personally think 5 is a very good setting for the CPU QB acc.

I don't think HUM run defense at 5 and raised cpu run blocking can be a long term solution because of the kick returns. I hope they address the kick returns in patch #2, because the game has alot of potential to be great.

edit: what are you doing to stuff the run exactly? I'm not finding the run stuffing issue quite as bad as you, so I was wondering what the difference is. I use mostly ask corso and I don't shift my DL too much. I'm wondering if your adjustments are the difference. Also, is this from play now or dynasty testing?

I actually raised the Human run defense back to default and decised to raise the AI run block. I think that the human run defense slider is broken or relatively ineffective at the moment. Shouldn't be able to shut evryone down with MSU with run defense at 0 or 5.

Fist,

Due to some poor programming I don't think there is anyway to get a good CPU running game without a house rule or two.

If you up the RBA slider you have the jerky animations and 175lb. backs stiff arming 300lb. DTs to the ground.

I am getting EXCELLENT running results from the CPU because I NEVER switch players on defense. I usually control a DE. I've had games where I just shut down the CPU running game and I have games where I've been gashed for 200+. It doesn't feel cheap and I don't feel like I'm "laying off" a bit to help the CPU.

I use the default settings with USER tackle at 45. If you want more yards, drop the tackle slider to 10 or 15.

Good luck man.

Its bad, I don't think the AI will be able to get a run game going. The run game plays great for the AI if you bump up the Run block, unfortunately, evey other kick return gets taken to the house. So you can't do that.

Going to try a few other things, but its not looking good. Sliders updated, I'll try run defense at 0 again, but I think that slider may be useless.

These look really good. Any thoughts of putting WR Catch at 45 so you get a couple more? I had it down there and didn't notice a drastic difference, but it does result in a few more drops.

Honestly if I have to super sim kickoff returns I have to supersim kickoff returns, it's not the end of the world for me.

The run game is 100x more important.
