Interceptions

I noticed that if you drop the pass block too much for the computer, the interceptions increase significantly. Watch the DL slip off a block and the QB will throw it away right into the hands of the hum defender.

The down side of course is if you have the pass block too high the passing game can be too good and you won't see a high number of sacks. I guess it depends on what you want in your game, but the interceptions suck in this game.

I have not found an equal balance in gameplay and on AA the interceptions are out of control at times. I also noticed that if hum/cpu QB throws an interception he will throw more. This is due to the QB becoming "rattled." I hope EA is listening here for next year's version.

Re: Interceptions

I agree. A high pass rush (or even a realistic one) will result in the cpu throwing too many interceptions. They didn't truly fix the cpu INT problem from NCAA '08. They partially masked it by increasing the pass blocking on the default levels. Hopefully the cpu QB decision making improves next year along with throwing more deep passes. It is better on the Heisman difficulty level though.

Re: Interceptions

They are really a function of Awareness and Knockdowns more than anything. I see many games where I get 5+ sacks, alot of pressure and 0 picks.

Try putting Human Awareness at 0 and KD at 25 and Int at 0........Just try it for a game and report back, you'll like what you see.

Re: Interceptions

IMO, both INTs and Sacks are momentum driven more then anything else. Either you get them early in the season and build momentum or you don't. Sure sliders do have an impact but IMO, in dynasty mode, its momentum that is the biggest driver of just about everything.

I have played season 1's with Michigan multiple times and have seen Warren get anywhere from 16 to 6 INTs for the year. It typically came down to how quickly he would get that first one because all of a sudden knockdowns become INTs. Same goes for sacks... a guy can go 5 games getting none but then after he gets that first one they seem to come faster and faster.

Re: Interceptions

Until the in-game momentum effects are toned down, interceptions will continue to be a problem in User played games.

I will agree with fist though because with AWR at 0 and KND below 25 there will be far fewer INTs. Any sliders with AWR above 20 are flawed IMO and will result in a turnover happy game.

In addition, CPU QBA should be above default at all times if you're getting too many turnovers.

Lastly, all user teams should play with their Defensive Aggression slider below 50. I actually believe all user teams should play at 0, but that may be too extreme for some people. With this slider at 0 and the above sliders set, pretty much all of your INTs will be user picks unless momentum gets highly in your favor. That still means 1-2 INT per game for most good players against similarly rated teams, but you'll have 0 INT games and some 4 INT games against weak QB's or in momentum driven games.

Re: Interceptions

I am in the Tradition dynasty over at MM and we are having problems with CPU intercepting too many of our passes. They hardly ever swat the ball down.

On the user side we swat alot of balls down and drop alot of easy ints......it is not balanced. ultimately we want less ints for the CPU defense....any suggestions.

Here are the stats from season 2

here are the stats for ints thrown this season and comparison to some cpu teams.
USER TEAMS
ASU - 31
Mich - 15
OSU - 16
OKU - 17
OKS - 27
ORG - 20
PSU - 34
PUR - 24
TEX - 20
TAM - 35
UCLA - 28

SOME RANDOM CPU TEAMS
MICH ST - 17
MINN - 9
PITT - 10
WISC - 9
IND - 10
ILL - 9

Lowering the defensive aggression slider in the coaching strategy lowers interceptions? I thought about this one, but never gave it a try. I will try it tonight.

Does putting awareness at 0 affect the outside rush. Does the awareness setting at 0 make a huge difference in the defensive reaction time?
