Explanation of two sliders?

Most are pretty self expanatory. I want to know about two on defense: Awareness and Knockdowns. Will Awareness effect both pass and run defense as well as affect INT's? Knockdowns, does it affect the tendancy of DB's to swat the ball as opposed to going for the INT, or does it affect how tight the coverage is, or both?

Re: Explanation of two sliders?

I hope NCAA adopts Madden's sliders for next year with the sub sliders so you can see what each slider really effects and can adjust it accordingly.

Yes, Awareness effects alot of things. Think of it as ESP. Players will react to the play much quicker as well as get a speed boost. I don't think it effects their ability to catch the ball, thats the INT slider. They will get into position to make the play quicker.

Knockdowns does effect how tightly guarded a player will be, and they will go for the breakup more often, however, higher knockdowns does lead to more INT's which I don't like. At least thats my observation. It may be because they are closer to the receiver.

Re: Explanation of two sliders?

The higher the knockdown slider, the more plays a DB will make on the ball. It has a big effect on the success of the deep ball. If you are finding it hard to complete a deep pattern (particularly the fly/steak), try dropping the knockdown slider. The higher the knockdown slider, the more often you will see a LB super jump to knock down a pass. If its too low, you will be able to squeeze the ball past defenders though when they should probably make a play on it.

I look at the knockdown slider as the size of the "defensive halo" around a player. The bigger it is, the better the chance of them closing on the ball, jumping up and knocking it down, or even picking it off.

OMT said Knockdowns are only for the D-Line. Not sure if that's true but that's what he said.

Razrr, Yes you're right, he did say that, but I think he is very mistaken, don't you?

Re: Explanation of two sliders?

I've heard that before but its definitely false. Its main effect is in the secondary.

Tru dat. I've seen it with my own eyes. If I lower the AI Knockdowns, My receivers can make the streak pattern money. They are best left for the AI between 80 and 100.

I don't think that is false- i just think its not 100% true as it effects all defensive players, not just D Line. You'll see more D Line swats with knockdowns at 100.
