CPU/CPU - Chargerrich's Sliders - Must go Varsity

After a full work week of playing with every slider imaginable in both AA and Heisman, I have come to the conclusion that Varsity is the way to go.

I am like many of us still tweaking but my best experiences so far include Varsity settings at 8 minute quarters and the following sliders:

Penalties - MAXED (all of them) Still too few but its better

CPU/HUM (same)

A few notes

Comp % - I am liking the completion percentages in the low 60s for studs and <55 for sub par QBs. Still too few games to see for sure but its looking good.

INT's - This one is tough but in two full games so far I have seen a total of only 2 which is great. I fear its an anomaly though as everything else I have tried thus far has resulted in 5-6 per game on average. I also notice that when on Heisman I seem to get 1-2 returned for a score ON AVERAGE.

Running - In two games so far I have been very happy with the running performances of 3 of the 4 backs. In one game however, Keegan Herring (ASU) who is a stud was held to a 51 yards on 22 carries which is bad, but then again he was playing USC so more testing is needed.

Scoring - I think NCAA 09 is too wide open. These sliders thus far have allowed for a bit more of a defensive game. It can still get high scoring, but it seems to be not as crazy and unrealistic as default.

Give them a spin and report back. I will add updates as I test but the primary take away so far is that Varsity is the way to go with CPU/CPU sliders.

Really? I just beat FSU with Miami 214-65. Seriously, Varsity is weak and its too easy to exploit the CPU.

Doubtful unless you are cheesing big time or calling money plays constantly.

Not really. Check out the 10 games/5 sacks thread. With the right sliders any level on this game can be challenging.

You do realize he is talking about CPU vs. CPU games, right?

You may be really onto something good here. I have played 2 games and have had much better results than normal. QB% is between 50-65%. Running game is nice, though there are a few too many broken tackles for my taste. I upped the tackles slider to 10 and may nudge it higher if need be. I also put punt length to 50.

My only complaint so far is that out of about 8 screen passes attempted (mostly to the RB, but a couple WR ones as well), 7 resulted in sacks. I have had a couple of sacks just because the D got a good push, which is great. I am going to give these some more time and probably more tweaks, but thanks for the starting point, it's much improved in my brief time playing.

Re: CPU/CPU - Chargerrich's Sliders - Must go Varsity

Any update with these? I tried them out and they play really well. The only thing is that I'm seeing a tad too many interceptions, especially by good quarterbacks. Rudy Carpenter on ASU is consistently throwing 2 or more a game. Any ideas on how to reduce the amount of INTs? The INT slider is already at 0...

I am having the same results. Try lowering D awareness, though this may lead to high completion %.
