Does anyone know if the CPU playcalling is the same logic is if I used "Ask Corso"? I've tried the Ask Corso/Madden thing and there are only 16 total plays to choose from on offense.
Ask corso is absolutely exactly the same logic as CPU playcalling. It selects one play, which is what the CPU would run if it were coaching your team, then selects 15 others that it 'might' have used, I'm guessing.

I use ask corso exclusively because its the only way that I can keep myself from making a ton of house rules about playcalling. Plus I know that when the game is on the line and I need a play to win, how hard will it be to stop myself from calling the play that gives me the best chance to win? So I use ask Corso to even up the playcalling completely.

Ask corso even follows the coaching adjustments you make in dynasty, so you can improve the playcalling slightly to your tastes.

That I think is why I'm finding these sliders just slightly too hard. Since the CPU and I are both evened up in playcalling, the slant of the sliders towards the CPU is eating me up. I'm going to adjust slightly to give myself a fighting chance with my way of playing the game.

Also I should point out that I not only let the CPU call the plays, but I ALWAYS make the receiver that a pass play is for my first read. I don't just throw the best route on that pass play. I do select a second read, which is usually the best route, but I always look for my intended receiver first.

I have a lot of fun this way but it obviously isn't for everyone. I want to win because a) I'm a very good MLB so I can make an impact that way, and b) I'm an above average QB so I can make an impact that way, and c) I'm ok at RB with flashes of goodness. I DON'T want to win just because the CPU can't call plays, which is what this game would be if I called my own plays.

Its an interesting concept that I have kicked around. With these sliders if you get sacked or a big loss on 1st down, you are probably going to punt. Having Corso pick the plays would be a big challenge.

have corso pick the play..... throw to the intended WR every time.... hell, why not just SIM and save yourself countless hours?

It would be for someone to test their stick skills and being able to quickly adapt to new plays.

The devil's advocate in me would say if you want to really coach and recruit, buy a text based PC game.

So you guys don't use "Ask Corso"?

I use it because I know certain plays are pretty much money (Slants and drags...basically routes that go across the screen are fairly easy...also using the flats is easy as well.)

I don't always pick the play he chooses, but 99% of the time I use one of the 16 plays.

Mainly because I love playing MLB. I also find it exciting.

And, if I just simmed I would not pay as much attention to recruiting, nor care about the players on my team as much.

I like to play, and I would LOVE to have to outsmart the CPU, but its just too easy. So I try to even the playing field, and play really well to win. It's a focus on execution and not playcalling.

I do it out of laziness on offense but on defense he loves sending his corners.

It used to impossible to throw over the middle in NCAA. Back in the days of the superman linebackers. Now your WR's have this incredible speed burst giving them seperation from the CBs allowing them to cover 10yds horizontally in a split second.

Anyone else remember when they put this in?

Re: FistofRage's Heisman sliders...

I always use ASK CORSO.
The only time I dont is on defense if he calls a really stupid d.
Like if it is third and long and he calls a run stopping play.
