I know you talked about it before and I just blew the topic off since the whole concept seems preposterous to me but after looking back at all the other issues with this game I am a damn fool to think that this is beyond EA's doing.
Its really hard for me to tell. I have the roughing the passer set at 5 and thought I was getting more pressure, but I honestly think it may be Placebo. I may move it back up because I saw the AI Cal QB throw the ball away twice in a row on would be sacks because he knew he wasn't going to get flagged for it(If thats possible). Thats something I haven't seen before. I would have rather had the sack. But I like seeing the AI throw the ball away too.

I think with the penalty slider stuff, you get into "Slider Voodoo" thinking sliders may be backwards, False start effects Punt return length, roughing sliders effect everything from pass block to dline rush to QB awareness. I think we give EA too much credit when we say, the DE knows he won't get flagged for roughing so he goes all out.

I don't have the 6 weeks or the sanity it would take to try this. My basement windows already have complex slider formulas on them and I drop off packets of slider notes every night in a mailbox at an abandoned house. When I start seeing a British guy trying to get me to swill some whiskey with him, I'm done.

Here are the penalty sliders I'm sticking with in the Night Owl Dynasty.
I have new game play sliders also but I'm not going to post them until I'm sure they are final.

Offsides - 0
False Start - 45
Holding - 100
Face Mask - 0
Offensive Pass Interference - 100
Defensive Pass Interference - 0
KR/PR Interference - 0
Clipping - 100
Intentional Grounding - 0
Roughing the passer - 0
Roughing the kicker - 0

good grief i am almost scared to ask. what does offsides = 0 do? does that mean i can take my LB and go in the backfield and park right next to the QB and wait for the snap and get a sack on every play? i know turning INT's to zero still allows for many INTs so maybe turning offsides to 0 doesn't do what i think it would.

It stops the cpu from jumping the snap so much. And yes you probaby could put your lb in the backfield and sack the qb every play. That's up to your judgement.

wow, then that is a no go for me. i would need to leave it at 5 at least as I do jump offsides at times as i try to time the snap with my OLB and run in there only to have the CPU fake me out or simply put someone in motion. these plays are actually quite humerous as i scramble to get back to the other side. when i do this i just drop bakc in coverage versus blitz as i am usually 5-10 yards deep in my backfield trying to not be off sides.

But there are no offsides penalties....why even use fake snap if YOU are the only one who can possibly get a penalty?

Anyway, we are hijacking fist's slider thread, but I think going deep into the penalty sliders is something that we should not put ourselves through. If you really want something done, post in this thread I created requesting OMT to look into it, and if enough people respond, I'm sure he will say SOMETHING to us.

Request for OMT for information, useful to all

I honestly don't know about this penalty conundrum. You would have to do an absolute ton of testing to marry this up. I have seen sacks and pressure as well as QB accuracy be very drastic from game to game....See the post about my 4 MSU @ Cal games.

Not sure about facemask. Ask M00D in his thread. He thought of these not me.

Re: FistofRage's Heisman sliders...

k, scratch the penalty crap, have to draw the line somewhere.

the concept that the AI adjusts its play based on being called for a penalty when they don't adjust to me if i call the same play on every play for an entire season is pretty silly i think.

one penalty slider i would like to discuss is the throwing the ball away penalty. i believe this is the one that maybe at 0 makes sense as it does 2 positive things.

1- since we can't purposely throw an incomplete ball at a receiver from in the pocket when under pressure to avoid the sack this would be a nice feature

2- this helps to eliminate the need to run out of the pocket on every pass play so that if no one is open you don't get sacked because of #1

because of #1 i do think that perhaps toning this down to 5 might be a GOOD thing for game play but I can see it argued the other way if it does effect CPU game play. the more and more i think of it though i am believing less and less that cpu AI is tied to these since the AI in this game is not deserving of the I at all.

lets start calling it AU....artificial un-intelligence.

Unless OMT tells me something that makes me think otherwise, I'm leaving almost everything at 100.

I personally don't like having INT. GR at 0, because I'm worried that I will ALWAYS throw it away right before I get sacked. I like to have to leave the pocket to throw it away.
