Can't Trust My Teammates

I know that this probably belongs in either the impressions thread, or maybe even the bug or glitches thread (and I apologize for the length and "rantiness"), but I don't think I've really seen anyone go into great detail on how bad the AI of the CPU on the USER's team is and how much it hurts the game overall.

I remember Playmaker mentioning it back when the demo was first released. It didn't seem as much of a big deal then, but now more then ever I know exactly what he was talking about.

Obviously, the AI has been tweaked on offense to help those that prefer to play player locked and off-ball (which I think is one of the more entertaining feature in any basketball game). Yet, where the computer kills me the most is on the defensive end. I have never seen such lazy, lethargic, and porous defense in a game like this. I mean, I watch, over and over and over again, as the CPU team calls a quick play, a man runs aaaaaalllll the way to the other side of the court and my CPU AI doesn't wanna move until the pass is thrown!? Or better yet, when the guy has the ball right in front of him and my "defensive stopper" is standing straight up on defense, not even in a defensive position...

REALLY!?

Oh, and GOD forbidden, I shade the ballhandler to that side so I can guard the uncontested cross-court pass he's about to throw... for what? all so he can blow pass me and go barreling OC into my Center, who picks up the foul. RIDICULOUS!

Oh! And fouls... I've been pondering this for awhile, trying not to let it become a paranoia of mine, but it's kinda hard to ignore anymore. I have this theory on fouls in NBA LIVE games. And please feel free to debunk it by all reason or account... I believe there's a window of opportunity for a foul to be called. The determining factor of that window is how quickly a offensive attempt is triggered in comparison to how quickly the defensive response is triggered, making timing key. Now, if your CPU teammate is too slow to respond to ESSENTIAL offensive actions like a pass, or a jumpshot, or a lay-up, then obviously the timing will be off and you my friend will find guys like Dwight Howard on the bench with 2 puzzling fouls in the first 5 minutes of the game when you swore he was in good position.

It doesn't matter what position your teammates are in. They're gonna respond late! And whether or not you guys are one of those people who like to play every position on the court in one possession, it's just one headache after another.

I'm sorry... I really tried, but I can't do it this year. Best of luck to the LIVE crew, I know you guys are doing your best, but this was the straw that broke the camels back for me. Live just doesn't fit my playing style I guess.

i think it's been established that you either need to set shooters to tight or manually guard guys coming off of screens. if that's a gamebreaker for you, then sorry.

Re: Can't Trust My Teammates

Dude I feel your pain, but I can't quit playing Live. the game is so much fun and frustrating at the same time.

If I could get a few fast breaks and some layups and dunks down the lane without getting mugged to death, it would open this game up.

I play on All Star default...which I could just take what the game allows and play the same style every game, which would be avoid drives down the lane and cross court passes...but that gets old.

The continuous hand checking and blocks from behind are terrible

Re: Can't Trust My Teammates

I feel your pain Solo both games this year have issues that just bug the hell out of me. Thank goodness I got MW2 and GTA BOGT hold me over because if not I would be totally frustrated w/ this years crop of bball games. Hopefully NCAA can give me a better experience.
