NBA Live>CPU kick outs after offensive rebounds...?
Court_vision 06:37 PM 10-30-2009
I've never seen the CPU kick out after an offensive rebound and re-set.
Never. Not once.
Even when I have two guys blocking their path...the CPU players try and go straight back up. (Giving me easy an easy block).
Anderson Vajero grabs an ORB off a LeBron miss...I have three guys around him, he has LeBron and all their shooters open on the perimiter if he wants to pass to them...but no, he goes back up. Always. Every time.
Playmakers claims there's not even any code in the game to do anything else...the CPU is simply coded to go right back up.
This kills the flow of a basketball game as there's no re-setting the offense...there's no prolonged periods of defense. It's all "one and done" ...shot, put back or block. Every time.
Late in the game...3 points down...CPU shoots a three ball...grabs an ORB...they need a kick out as they need a three to tie the game...they go right back up for the two. Game over. They lose.
It's horrible AI...the type of stuff that was in basketball games in 2002.
However............there's some posters here who maintain they see the CPU grab ORBs and kick out all the time.
I've asked a lot of people I know well who have played the game a lot and they've never seen this happen. I've spoken to a lot of guys here who've never seen it either.
Can we get some sort of clarification if this type of AI is even in the game? If so, what sliders will bring it out?
At the moment, it is terrible. Moronic stuff. So, if it's easily fixed...that would be a good thing.

Haven't there been quite a few threads started on this already?

Add me to the group that's never seen a kickout.

Eeeennh, I don't recall ever seeing it myself, but I also don't recall ever noticing one way or another. (shrug) Just doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

The real problem is that it's almost always the man who shot who gets the offensive board and then they are able to go back up with it unnaturally quick so that the defense often has no chance. The defense jumps to contest the shot and is then out of position for the board, but the man who shot is always in position, making it an easy 2 if they grab the board. I know that guys like Melo are really good at following their own misses in the paint, but it's taken to a really extreme level in Live 10 where that's basically the only person with a chance at the ball (especially the CPU, which seems psychic on loose balls/rebounds in general).
I've had WAY too many PG/SGs drive the lane, get their own rebound because the defenders were still in contest/block animations and go back up and finish before me as the defender can even jump again. Just frustrating when you play great defense and actually get them to miss a contested layup only for a smaller man to get the board and standing dunk it in your face, especially if there are open men on the perimeter and it's not a player who would normally finish that strong under the hoop.

Yes...but not specifically to ask the question "are there any in the game?".
The reason I am asking is guys still message that they get these and get these often.
So, is it just my settings? I've tried several sliders and never seen it happen.
Yet guys still maintain that, in their games, it happens often. Either they are just posting BS to defend the game...or my settings are haywire. I have tried default + L4D's + rebounding at 100 and 0 and 50...never seen a CPU kick out. Not one.
ive seen in about 3 or 4 times. not that big a deal really.

Not that big of a deal? It kills the whole flow of a basketball game...it's entirely "one and done". In the NBA yesterday, Portland dominated the ORBs and controlled the entire pace of the game...guys like Greg Oden were grabbing boards and kicking out...that's the prime job of guys like Vajero, Ben Wallace...
It also means teams can re-set and get their stars better looks...not have scrub PFs go back up into traffic.
End of the game? CPU down by 3...
Eight seconds left, LeBron pulls up for three...misses...Vajero grabs the ORB...
Four seconds left...kick it out for another 3 ball to tie? No.....straight back up for the two and the loss.
That's moronic AI.
It is a big deal.
This forum has turned into a love fest the past few months with no one asking the EA guys basically 'any' tough AI questions...and everything that is asked gets sugar coated.
So...this is simple...is their code in the game or not?
If it's my sliders or my settings...and it's easily fixed...that would be good.

I know you've played the game a lot...so i appreciate the feedback.
I've never seen it. Not even once. I've even watched a CPU v CPU game to see if it was just my playing style or something...but, no, nothing.

You know, now that I think about it, I really dont see that happen much in real life either. Most guys get an offensive rebound they are going back up strong, hoping to score or get fouled.
