NBA Live>Is there any way to force the CPU to respect you on defense?

The CPU in this game is really aggressive in that they will take advantage of any opening they see. And that is great but the problem is they don't take into account the other defenders on the floor.

For example if I get beat on the perimeter w/ Nelson and D12 is the help defender, the CPU player will attack him in the same way they would Nate Rob.

They show no respect to the fact that Howard is a great shot blocker and just attack him head on. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm controlling him or its the AI they just attack and 90% of time it results in a foul especially post patch.

Now if I'm put in that same situation I'm either pulling up for the mid range jumper or kicking out to the open player. The CPU almost never does either one of these things they just attack w/ no conscious.

It for me makes playing D useless because if I try and adjust to this by aggressively defending the shot I get a foul. If I try and be passive and give him room before I defend it I can potentially give up a layup. So its like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't.

So I'm asking what do I have to do here just accept the foul or give up the layup? Because obviously just forcing a contested shot is out of the question Lol.

Now don't get me wrong this situation doesn't always result in a foul or made layup. I'm not saying I'm losing every game and giving up a whole lot pts in the paint either. Its just that when this situation arises its either a foul or layup.

What makes things even worse is the fact that on the other end if I try this type of stuff I'll get stuffed, ripped, or hacked (w/ no foul). Honestly at times it feels almost unfair that the CPU can just bully me like this.

So please can anyone put this to rest to me because this problem alone is ruining game's for me. Doesn't matter if I'm up by 20 or down by 1 when this happens I get frustrated.

By the way I'm chalking all of this up to user error. I don't feel like I can blame the game here its obviously something that can be accomplished b/c the CPU does it to me every game. [Reply]

I'm on ps3, but that's scary to see that it will result in a foul after the patch. Before, they would (on any difficulty level) end up with some weak missed shot.

But yeah you're right once they get past a certain point they are like "I'M TAKING IT!" The hands up animation usually leads to a charge if they try to drive through you. But I know you're not talking about how to stop it...

That's why I hate superstar; they seem even stupider about forcing shots inside.

its unfortunate the AI is not programmed like a human but we are years from that type of adaptation

but c'mon this is nitpicking, why should they respect you to always pass or pull up, hell its great that they get in there and get howard in foul trouble, now the strategy is on you to not jump everytime someone drives maybe you should be playing for a help side block and not a straight up body on body block.

i like the increase in fouls (especially if you go for the aggressive swat) so subbing is not only for fatigue, when have we ever pulled a guy in the first Q because of foul trouble, this year i have...

i think this is great you dont, the game is subjective if they fix it for you they alienate me there is no middle ground. [Reply]

That's why I'm asking what do I have to do in order to get the CPU to respect me on D. What type of adjustments can I make in terms of the way I control my defenders. I'm not saying I don't like it I'm just saying I want to know how to properly defend myself from this. [Reply]
