Honestly what is the point of player DNA?

What is the point of having DNA in any sports video game? Most people either play online or in a dynasty and in this dna doesnt do anything. Online the user controls the players, and in a dynasty youll often get through multiple seasons before the real nba season is over. I hear all this talk about "DNA" but it seems like it only comes into play if you play against the CPU in a play now.

I wish the ratings would update because their are so many messed up 3pt ratings. Marvin williams was 4-4 last night behind the arc and is 8-11 on the year and is rated 44. Flip Murray and Mo Evans are both below 60.

You take the current DNA into Dynasty as well, so when you play any game you still match up against relevant data for every player in the league. Even if you never download a DNA update you still get all the 2007-08 DNA/Tendencies for every player.

Ratings will be evolving throughout the year as well, don't worry.

However, you do know Marvin is a career 27% 3pt shooter right?

That said, if he keeps up his percentage consistently this year, his ratings will go up.

DNA doesn't really do anything! Just a daily roster update is all 365 is!

Was this the plan from the beginning or is this something just recently added after Playmaker exposed Live's player ratings as nothing more than a lazy, half-assed JOKE?
