Re: NBA Live 2010 GamePlay Wishlist...

hey beluba....live needs to add the "icon lead pass" feature that 2k has (where you can control the movement of the receiving player and tell him where to cut with the analog stick). that feature alone makes the game so enjoyable because you can fully control your passes rather than being stuck with where the cpu player decides to go.

also, the passing in general needs work - please add more pass types and make sure the passes are appropriate for the situation...this way the ball won't travel right through a defender's body.

also, the receiving player should move and position himself to receive the pass cleanly by creating the right passing angle.

add quicker, more responsive passes...add quick touch passes - make it so you can pre-load the next pass while the ball is still between players...this would result in an ultra-quick touch pass to get the ball to the open man quickly.

YES blues that is a great idea. I love that feature allows us for force him to curl or fade the screen.

The player matchup ability of choops 2k8 where we can assign a player to guard another player as opposed to another position.

in 2k9 it appears you can manually decide to shade a player to the right or left and how far off to play them. If we could assign this from the matchups screen we could control how we want our cpu defense to guard players as opposed to only being able to select this when were on the ball.

I guess you would need to just jack that idea to manually adjust your on the ball defensive position as well....

Oh how could I forget.. live has the worst replay camera angles known to man. Please change those. In fact that camerapalooza upgrade you guys gave 2k where you had practically any camera angle imaginable would be sweet too.

I have something even better planned for you. Check back in about 10 months.

wow...10 months is a long time...i'm excited to see what it is. "icon lead passing" is the one feature that really keeps me coming back to 2k. it is so much more rewarding when you have full control of the passer as well as the movement of the receiving player, because you don't have to rely on the cpu to decide the right direction to cut in.

i was excited to read that in live 09 you will be able to hold down on the bumper to keep the pass icons visible as long as you want. this is one feature that i have been waiting for 2k to add, but live beat them to it. i requested multiple times for this to be added to 2k - it looks like beluba has brought a lot of good suggestions with him when he moved. it gets so annoying to have to constantly press the bumper over and over to bring up the pass icons because they keep disappearing. i only use icon passing (it is the only way to have full control of the passing) so this really has me thinking about getting live this year.

some other things to add to live 2010:

signature styles for defense and rebounding. i want to see a difference between a KG shot block and a yao ming shot block. more athletic players should have their own package of defense/rebounding animations so that their movements look more athletic - they should jump higher and quicker when going up for blocks and rebounds.

slower players like yoa ming and ilgauskas should not be able to do a full leap to go up for a rebound or block - they should barely jump when rebounding and attempting blocks (and dunking).

overall defense should be more responsive. blocks should be more responsive and players should jump in the proper direction and make the proper motion to contest the shot. players should work harder to deny penetration and to prevent easy dunks and layups. there could be more body contact in the paint.

Definitely fix the sig jumpers so that we feel that flick/snap to release the shot.

OK. I'm going to repost my list with further descriptions. I've also taken the ideas from other users and posted it in my wishlist because I feel some of them are great additions and don't want them to get lost in the pages of posts. I will continue to add to my wishlist throughout the upcoming season, hopefully our voices will be heard on some of these ideas.

HoosierDaddy's NBA LIVE 2010 Wishlist

- Ball physics: They need to be more realistic. The ball hitting the rim, the players dribbling on free throws, there's no rotation of the ball. Even the loading screen icon of the ball, should rotate realistically, not the choppy rotation that's there currently.

- Passing: Passes need to be a lot more crisp. Directional passing is almost unusable.

- Close basket shooting should be improved. Appropriate shots in proximity to the rim. Up & under move is a classic example.

- Blocks in general need fixed. There's a select few that look good, it's nearly impossible to recover after you're beat on a play and pull off a block from behind, especially with a good shot blocker. Too many occasions where you jump to block the shot and the defender is nowhere near the jump shooter or the ball ricochets oddly on a block.

- Putback/Tip-in dunks is a necessity. Would revolutionize the offensive rebounding game, pretty much non-existant.

- Rebounding moves. Sink, swim, Spin, block-out, tap ball (Dennis Rodman-esque), all with the right analog. (Up,Down,Left,Right) After the rebound, ability to control where the ball is being held. Above head (Up), swinging elbows (left - right in succession), cover ball (down)

- Diving for the ball must be included. Too many times I see numerous players standing around watching the ball go out of bounds. Double-tap of the Steal button and you attempt to save the ball.

- Ability to alter shot in mid-air close to the basket and avoid block. (Similar to 2k's "shot modifier) Pressing of trigger button or double-tap of shoot button. Will add a new dimension to layups/dunks. Protect the ball from a block by switching hands, up-and-under the other side of the rim/basket, double pump, etc...

- Fronting the post is a must. Enough said here.

- Definitely need on-the-fly substitutions, strategy, etc...You're still unable to sub while opponent is shooting a free throw. Has anyone else noticed during different times of the game how the menu changes? For example, sometimes it's fastbreak/crash boards other times it's double teams, etc.. We should have the ability to alter ALL options ALL the time.

- Fix the jumpshots so we feel that flick/snap to release the shot. Holding the shoot button too long should result in a travel, not just a missed shot.

- Pre/Half/Post game interviews or overlays with player of the game, key stats, key matchup, etc...

- Air ball glitch, where the defender grabs the ball out of the air next to the basket, should be a goaltend. Last year it was always a goaltend, this year I've yet to see one called. Find a happy medium.

- User controlled rebound glitch, the player jumps and pulls their arms down resulting in a nearly impossible rebound. I realize this may be caused by the shot going in regardless. Should be a risk/reward type situation. Offensive goaltending, dunk-tip in, etc...

- Expand on the triple threat moves. Users should be rewarded by utilizing these and blowing past a defender to the basket. Rarely happens usually results in defender bumping the offensive player.

- Realistic dunks have been fixed from '08 to '09; but I still see too many unrealistic ones with bigger players. Chris Mihm with tomahawk one handers underneath the basket, etc... Also see many dunks that should be called a travel (I know it's the NBA..) but still... Utilize the strengths of big men, flashy dunkers, and adapt their dunks accordingly. (Flashy dunks, power dunks, etc...)

- Some layup animations have a floaty aspect to them. I can see why you'd want to use these when a big defender is near the basket; but many times big men are tossing up high arcing layups next to the basket.

- Dunks/Layups with the off-hand/non-dominant hand. This still happens too much. There's a select few of people who have the ability to do so. (Carter, Iverson, Kobe, Lebron, etc..) Big men rarely use their off-hand (Boozer, Kaman, Gasol, etc..) Again, this is where shot modifer could come in handy. Specific players should have the ability to change hands, others have to double-pump, force an awkward shot. The non-dominant hand dunks just need to be
removed altogether.

- Minor button delay. Block and Steal buttons occasionally. Especially when you're trying to steal a ball in the passing lane. The defender sticks his arm out after the ball has already made it to the recipient. Need more passing lane steals with animations. A few of the existing animations stop after you make the steal when they should be in stride going for the fast break.
