Dave's ALL-STAR sliders (for the rest of us)

Note: Sorry for being so long-winded.

I am working like a mad man trying to make all-star level playable for guys like me.

Guys who:
A) Don't want to spend hours studying DNA - this is a videogame, not an attempt to cure cancer.

B) Want to play all-star level because they like the level of competition - but are sick and tired of the computer bullcrap on default all-star.

C) Want realistic stats at the end of a game, but don't want to go through hell to get them. Again, it's a videogame.

D) Still want to run plays every offensive and defensive set

When I see that one guy post here how he spends hours studying DNA for every tendency, I say to myself "Am I really that devoted to a videogame?"

While I love NBA Live, the answer is no. I want realistic results and stats, but I will not spend hours in practice mode or hours studying DNA. I'm too friggin old for homework.

So ... I am madly devising sliders based off default all-star level.

Set your game up at all-star default before doing the tweaks.

At its core, I believe all-star level has cheats. Sure there are guys who can regularly win at all-star. Congratulations, you're my heroes. Now move on. These probably aren't the sliders for you.

They are the sliders for the rest of us ... guys who don't think they're Pat Riley.

THE FIRST TWEAKS
- Jack your human defensive rebounding to max. Push the CPU offensive rebounding to 0. Yeah, I said it. Max and zero.
This does not mean the CPU will not get offensive rebounds. It will, but they won't get the freakish ones. They will get five to eight a game (I play 12 minute quarters) and that's about it. You will own the defensive glass ... as most NBA teams do.
Leave all the other rebounding sliders (CPU defensive and Human offensive) at default.

- Up all human defensive sliders by 8, lower all CPU defensive sliders by 5.

- Leave everything else at default. I like the shot sliders where they are. I have never had a problem with the CPU shot percentage as a whole, just the damn cheating runs, the stupid offensive rebound/second chance points, etc...

- Put foul sliders wherever the hell you want, same for fatigue. I've left both at default, because I want my studs to play 40 minutes and the CPU studs to do the same. And while I agree fouls kinda suck in this game, the more you jack up the slider, the more foul shots the CPU gets.

These slider tweaks are still a work in progress. I will update this as I go along.
They're pretty basic, so don't ask if they're in my damn locker.

Edit: OK, just looked at them.
Your shooting slider settings would kill me. I am already getting my a-- handed to me. The last thing I should do is lower my shooting slider settings.
And ... I won't be globally editing any player values, because with the daily roster updates, it's pointless and time consuming IMO (especially since I plan to play dynamic season mode).

Was just curious at what needs to be done. I'm all for trying out something new, but just left confused when you say "put the sliders wherever the hell you want"

It's take a collective effort to make sliders good. I have a lot of influence from Tombo and Playmakers, and the feedback from other community members.

As for the shooting sliders, they'll just decrease the likeliness of you making a shot (when you take the shot correctly), but believe me it balances out. You are having problems hitting shots on the default, which means your release isn't right for whatever particular player that you are using.

PM is taking a huge undertaking with modifying the DNA. Once he's done he'll release a file which you can just download off the EA locker so you won't manually have to type it in (unless you're a silver Xbox Live user, then you are SOL).

Global player edits will probably be geared towards Dynasty players and play it now players. As for the Dynamic season, I hope the EA developers are working on a patch to address most of the issues we are trying to fix through sliders.

One of my favorite posts of the year, I laughed out loud several times because I can totally relate. I love the sim aspect of All Star level but dang sometimes I don't want to have to concentrate on every single possession like my life counts on it in order to win. I will definitely try these slider recommendations.

Re: Dave's ALL-STAR sliders (for the rest of us)

I with you on this Dave.

Im cool with almost everything this game does on Allstar, but for CPU defense and defensive help on lay ups and dunks.

The CPU defense clogs the lanes so damn fast and they recover unrealistically.

These are the only sliders I need to mess with.

I see you have yours down 5 , but I tried 10 and did not like the results. I might go 15. Once I get this aspect realistic I will be straight.

I've pretty much abandoned these sliders.

Because they're impossible to count, I wouldn't even want to try posting the current all-star sliders I use.

The Live slider system is so insanely stupid.
