Smak's 'Adjustments' Thread:

Hey, I am bored tonight so I am trying to make NBA Live more Sim.

These adjustments are simple but might take a second to implement. Try them out, though, if you have the time.

First, you need to universally edit:

Lay-up in traffic = -10
Finish with contact = -10
Dunk/Layup shot off= -10
Shooting touch= -10

You have to do this for every team, but it shouldn't take long. The first 3 are in inside, and I think the others are in outside.

Then, in the sliders:

Global:

Fatigue, fouls, speed... that is all you.

User:

All default except Shot Alter +5.

CPU=

On ball Physical defense= Decrease to 0
Help Side Defense= +5
Shot Alter= +5

That is what I am using now, and it is giving me a 'sim experience.' So much that I am seeing animations I have never seen (Like autoblocks when people take contested shots!)

Any feedback and adjustments would be welcome. I am also open to suggestions for other universal rating edits. Just give your reason. I'm telling you guys: UNIVERSAL RATING EDITS IS THE KEY!

Sliders is like the groundwork, but the real tweaks come in universal ratings.

yes if you cheese the dribble moves BUT if you try to play a fluid real approach them NO

i leave it at default but i could see how some might drop it.. hand checking is a foul in the nba i think the DEVS forgot that lol

Not cheesing...even on 100 it's way to easy to drive and score at will in this game.

At 0, you could almost walk it into the paint and score...

I'll give it a go and see how it is though with the other adjustments.

Anyone got ANY fastbreak sliders for the CPU? The CPU simply doesn't attack the hoop on the break...

Are you just gonna talk about this or upload these bad boys to your locker?
(Assuming you have the 360 version)

Re: Smak's 'Adjustments' Thread:

1. I don't have a 360.

2. I am still working. Like I said in another thread... it's not really the actual numbers because people are different. It's the ideas.

I've lowered shooting sliders, increased help side defense for the cpu by a lot, increased their fakeout discipline to 100, increased their shot alter... ended up lowering shooting touch by 20 overall. Still have -10 in the layup in traffic, adjusted shot, and contact shots.

This seems to make the game much more realistic and HARDER. The only thing I'd want to stop now is how easy it is to fast break all day and pass over the defense. But mostly I just don't do it because it seems like an exploit. Someone like Amare can get down the court EVERY TIME and dunk.

I also lowered Layup rating, but it might be too low. I only did 5, but I see my players missing some layups I don't think they should be missing, but on the other hand it adds some necessary frustration to miss a few layups (especially off of offensive rebounds. It's no longer a 100% chance of score.)

The blocks are great with the +20 (maybe more?) helpside as well as +10 alter on the computer. In fact, I gotta bring my A game overall. The computer has been pretty much owning me.

I think I made it TOO hard.
