Playmakers 360 Sliders Baseline/Press Cam Views

PLAYMAKERS XBOX 360 NBA LIVE SLIDERS AND TEAM SPECIFIC PLAYBOOKS

I've finally completed the sliders and Playbooks. They have to be used as a package in order to get the best Simulation play out of Live 360. You can save each teams playbook before you start a season. The only thing you have to do before you play a game is take control of the CPU team right before the opening tip off (TWO CONTROLLERS IS THE BEST WAY). That will allow you to change their Strategy Sliders from 1-5 which controls how often a team Fastbreaks or Crash the Boards. I've listed those setups for each team aswell. It helps to see more of a difference in style of play from team to team. Once you have setup the strategy then you can then go and setup the Defensive Matchups. This only requires you to assign High or Medium Pressure towards your team players. If you have only ONE CONTROLLER these changes might not work and the CPU's Playbook might convert over to the same Playbook your team is assigned.

The sliders were built around the 3 bottom camera settings. It's takes a few games to get use to each camera listed but after awhile they become solid. The Baseline Cam is what I've grown to enjoy most despite for years playing the game on Press Cam. Press Cam will allow you to see more of the court which is good but the one draw back comes within the transition game occasionally it will be ahead of the action.

***For those looking for the best possible simulation play out of the game IMO if you set the Camera to Press View 10-H/8-Z and Gamespeed to 60 on 8 minutes qtr's it gives you a better SIMULATION feel. The CPU will actually setup their offense more often and take less quick shots and fastbreaks become toned down.***

Level: All-Star (PLAYER LOCK ON OR OFF)

TWO CONTROLLERS ARE HIGHLY RECCOMENDED IN ORDER TO SETUP THE CPU STRATEGY FOR DEFENSIVE PRESSURE AND DEFENSIVE PLAYBOOKS OR ELSE CHANGES MIGHT NOT SAVE DURING GAMEPLAY WITH ONE CONTROLLER.

Camera: (Baseline 10-Height/6-Zoom) (Press Cam 10-Height/6 or 8-Zoom) (Sideline 10-H/6-Z)

*BROADCAST CAMERA HEIGHT 10/6 ZOOM IS BEST SUITED FOR THE PLAYER LOCK STYLE OF PLAY*

Assign High Pressure Defense to all C's & PF's (Helps to allow more contact in low post play)

Assign Medium Pressure Defense to all SF's, SG's & PG's (Helps to keep perimeter spacing balanced out with ON BALL PHYSICAL DEFENSIVE SLIDER)

***Taking control of the PG only on defense helps to add more realism to the overall effect of the sliders during gameplay that's why I set ON BALL DEF ASSIST to 100. Let your AI TEAMMATES defend and contest shots as much as possible on their own and you'll see some great stuff happening all over the court***

REPLACE ALL QUICK PLAYS IN EACH TEAMS PLAYBOOK WITH THESE PLAYS THEN LIST ALL THE QUICK PLAYS AS THE BOTTOM 3 PLAYS FOR EACH TEAM.

*The Quick Plays are the first Pre-Set Plays in every teams Playbook example ISO/Post UP/3-PT
*Team Strategy is for Fast Break and Crash Boards Tendency ranging from 1-5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest setting with those sliders.

Each team has the same defensive playbooks. In order to get each team to use the assigned Defense I posted next to Team Strategy you must have two controllers. You then have to assign the specific play I listed as the very first play in their defensive playbook. Before the opening tip off or at the first stoppage of play you will take the second controller as if your playing a two player game then select the assigned play as the CPU DEFENSIVE strategy then switch the controller back to the middle and the CPU will play that style of defense.

NOTE:The only draw back to this setup is that the CPU will stay in that Defense all game. Unlike the regular XBOX or PS2 Live 06 they don't randomly switch up defenses during games so this has to be done if you would like to see teams play different styles of defenses in your season mode.

aswell or else you'll get killed. When I'm done Phoenix and Golden St will have the highest fastbreak tendency while teams like San Antonio and Houston will have extremly low settings. I'm also looking at the Rebounding tendency slider aswell. This will let you see a difference in playing Detroit making Ben Wallace more aggressive on the Offensive Boards then say the Lakers who will attempt to just get back on Defense after one of those forced shots by Kobe......

Excellent overall summary

The fastbreak point is one I neglected to mention. As you know, you can swap teams at the start of the game and set all their tendencies...

Setting The Pacers to the lowest fast break etc...setting Phoenix to max.

Out of the box, all teams fast break like mad.

So, you're 100% correct that we will need a fastbreak slider and rebounding base also. I guess Phoenix max down to the Pacers and Utah min is the basic 'range'.

I'll test this tonight as it may be a way to see plays run better if teams are playing half court ball.

At the moment, I'm hooked on NBA 2K6 and don't want to mess up my controls (it's damm hard switching games as it screws up my control)...

So, I'll test these using CPU v CPU etc and watch a half or two

Re: Playmakers 360 Sliders Baseline/Press Cam Views

This is off topic. I just purchased NHL 06 for ps2 and need some sliders. I thought I remember seeing some sliders in the past that were done by Playmaker for this game. If you did and still have them, could you post them here or in the NHL 06 slider thread.

Thanks...

PM...sliders seem pretty nice so far

One thing, the "blocking problem" of LIVE 05 is present again in this game...which really just confirms it was built off the LIVE05 engine.

It's not as bad as then...but with your sliders at 25, I saw Aaron Mckie block Iverson about 4 times in the first quarter.

I'll try it at 0 and see if it affects the big guys blocking...?

I just lowered it to 0 on both sides and I'm thinking about reducing ON BALL PHYSICAL DEFENSE back dow to 60 each. I'll start piecing together the Final Sliders later this evening. I must have played about 7 games lastnight going back and forth on sliders.

I've settled on 3 different camera's all of them the same for Height and Zoom. It's weird but all three angles for Press Box, Sideline and Baseline at 8-Height and 10-Zoom seem to give the same play gameplay with the sliders so far. I've done nothing but mess with the camera views for about 3-4 hours going up and down on each angle and these 3 settings seem to be solid. Not great but ok afterwhile.

Re: Playmakers 360 Sliders Baseline/Press Cam Views

Ok I went back and readjusted the Camera's. All three views I listed takes a few games to get use to but they become playable afterwhile. I've always enjoyed Press View in previous Lives but in this version Baseline seems to be my favorite. Press Cam allows you see more of the court and offenses being run but you can sometimes struggle in the transistion game with that camera.

Now for some more things that I've noticed. This going to sound crazy but after testing long hours over the last two days the Gamespeed at 50 or 75 actually helps to get the CPU to play more SIM like Basketball. I know that sounds hard to believe but the higher you increase the Gamespeed slider the more uptempo they will try to play. That means more quick shots and more fastbreak chances for them. I'm going to mess around with the each teams Fast Break Slider aswell to help with the situation but it appears that between 50-75 Gamespeed is best suited for actual SIM PLAY once you load up the sliders. I've played at 90-100 Gamespeed and the higher speeds makes the players move a bit more faster but it seems to trigger other things aswell it brings the arcade factor into the game more often. The Best Balance overall as a combination is 75 speed and Press Cam at 10-H/10-Z despite the few issue's I stated with that Camera.

I think what I might do and I don't know if anyone has even considered the idea but adjusting all the players Speed up could probably allow the game to play at a lower Gamespeed yet still have players move quicker because of the increase in the Speed Ratings......... I did something similiar to this with the Block Ratings and Jump Ratings for all players in Live 05 and it helped quite a bit making the gameplay better.

I created a Playbook for Miami for anyone interested to see if CPU will run plays. Just setup the Heat playbook in the exact order I have the plays listed.

Re: Playmakers 360 Sliders Baseline/Press Cam Views

Damn PM looks like you've been hammering away. I'm gonna go check this out right now and post some impressions when I get done. I've been playing NBA 2K6 alot lately and it's pretty outstanding. I'll give everything you said try and see if it gets me back to trying to enjoy this game because it has been a huge frustration. I hope this work

Re: Playmakers 360 Sliders Baseline/Press Cam Views

Playmakers let me be the first to say you are the man when it comes to sliders I'm amazed because once again when I thought there was no hope for this game your work has delivered a better product than I initially played. I used the Press view like you said and kept the speed to about 78 instead of 75 but that wasn't too much of a difference and I was actually able to see and play the game better. I only had time for 6 minute quarters but let me it was almost perfect.

I had Minnesota and played Miami set up the Heat test plabook like you listed and Shaq was a monster down low. He either abused Olawakandi or tried to score and got hacked sending him to FT Line about 8 times. I like the physical contact within the paint with these sliders. Shaq had 15 pt's and 7 rebounds but he missed 5 Free Throw's which was incredible to see since Steve Kerr and Marv Albert would discuss his low career average from the Free Throw Line. The Heat did run those Triangle plays and I saw guy's moving and the ball being swung around the perimeter. I even saw D. Wade use a couple of fakes on the perimeter and get his man up in the air and blew by him. Posey took a pass on the wing of the baseline one play then Tren Hassle tried to go for the steal missed and Posey exploded baseline dunked before Eddie Griffin could get there and the crowd freaking errupted.

You were absolutely right on how to play most of the game. I stayed with Jaric on defense trying to contain Williams and he had 6 assist and looked to get Shaq or Wade the ball aslong as I stopped him from driving early in the play. I don't know if you knew this already but after you shoot if you hit the A button immediately most of the time it gets you to your PG and he can get back before the fast break starts to develope. I also think that with offensive rebounding at 0 in your sliders and in team strategy it helps big time because players are hustling back more often it appears. I could see so much more of the court with the maxed Press Cam that Miami was limited to 10 fast break points on me.

I missed too many three's 2/13 but the mid range game felt spot on when ever I released the ball right. I gave up on Free throw's because even at 50 it was horrible so I just let the CPU shoot my Free Throw's by pausing the game and putting the controller in the middle until bothj shots were attempted. I hate EA for this junk system it is by far the worst part of the game IMO. Overall these sliders made the gameplay vastly improved and the camera angle which took me about 5-6 possessions to get use to made the game very playable both on offense and defense. The camera does still ahead of the action sometimes but what I did on offense in these few instances was delay like a second and then the action was back to normal. I actually got use to the pace of the game at 75 and then it wasn't even a huge problem that slow. I guess since for years I was use to Lives blazing speed compared to this version it just appeared much slower but after about 1 qtr I didn't even think about the speed because you definetly see guy's on the perimeter do their stuff much better. I lost the game 69-58 but other than the missed 3's on both sides and the hack a Shaq routine my big men displayed once again Live has recieved some new life thanks to you

I can't waite until you bring all the playbooks into the game and thanks for making me feel like I didn't waiste $60 bucks completely.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still looking at certain sliders and I might lower In Air collision to 50. I also altered the CPU's Adjusted Shot Freq down to 5 now. I'm playing back on 50 gamespeed now because the fast breaks are killing me. It might be do to you using Dallas and their players have lower DEF AWR i'm not sure yet. But it gets better the more I play and work on teams.
