Dave's 'Ultra Sim' Superstar level sliders

Intro: I used Global's sliders as a base and worked from there ... so if a few of you see similarities, the acknowledgement has been made.

My one and only goal with these sliders - NBA sim play. Can NBA Live 2006 achieve this?
Early results have been positive for the most part.

One thing I can't stand about Live is the high shooting percentages. IMO, they had to be toned down.
Right now, I'm working with 42 as my base for human shooters and 37 for cpu. I find CPU has big advantage in this game, so I'm trying to cut that down without losing NBA realism.

I am not a controller savvy guy, so your opinions on my sliders may vary.

My biggest beefs with Live so far are the playbook calling (awful) and the ease in which CPU little guys can score in the paint vs. my big guys.

That said, it's way too early to be overly judgemental.

I will update these as I go along.

Opinions are welcome, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over them. I only care that my sliders give me good results. If they help you too, great. If they don't, find some new ones.

Re: Dave's 'Ultra Sim' Superstar level sliders

Ok i tried them and i like alot.

Im using the updated rosters. I played as the Lakers against the Celtics and the game went into overtime....it was 118-118 going into OT so alot of points were scored.

Celtics (CPU) 138 Lakers (Me) 135
62 Rebounds 31
14 Assists 29
6 Steals 15
2 Blocks 3
12 Fouls 25
23 Turnovers 36
52/97 FGs 61/111
.536 FG% .550
1/9 3PT 6/17
.111 3PT% .353
33/41 FTs 7/16
.805 FT% .438
22 OFF REBs 10
40 DEF REBs 21

Lakers
Kobe Bryant - 60 PTs 6 AST 4 STLs
Kwame Brown - 24 PTs 9 REBs
Lamar Odom - 10 PTs 4 REBs 2 ASTs

Celtics
Dan Dickau - 35 PTs 4 REBs 3 ASTs
Ricky Davis - 25 PTs 4 REBs 4 ASTs
Paul Pierce - 24 PTs 9 REBs 2 ASTs

Great game but IMO the game is alittle bit too slow....or maybe i was just used to the default already...plus my rebounding was horrible. Also the transition game wasnt there for me anymore. But i enjoyed these better than the defaults so great job. Hope this helps

Stat's seem outrageous. 23 and 36 turnovers? not very realistic to me.

Re: Dave's 'Ultra Sim' Superstar level sliders

i think it needs more work. few things:

it was slow
point guard hogs the ball a lot
dunks are automatic inside
rebounding is difficult
few more i think

but i kno this is a work in progress, so hopefully u can fix it to make it more relaistic. thanks.

Re: Dave's 'Ultra Sim' Superstar level sliders

just played a game with these sliders. i've only played a few games total on this years Live so I probably have a lot to learn. Anyways, the game was great. I played the Nuggets as the Kings at Sacramento. I was down by 7-10 most of the game and everytime I would make a run to take the lead Denver would always seem to get an easy bucket. Its very hard to stop anyone once they get penetration. Anyways, the Kings got a couple turnovers late in the 4th and Bibby took the lead by 2 with a 3 pointer with about 1:20 left and that was it. I won 96-93. It was very cool how the crowd was pretty silent most of the game while I was loosing then at the end they were going crazy and causing the Nuggets to make stupid turnovers. From the shot chart the mid game was definatly lacking. And I had trouble getting by my defender.
btw, i changed the game speed to 40 and i played 8min quarters. And before the game I changed both team strategies to Scorer SF.

Here is some stats:
Kings 96
B.Miller 6pts 6reb 2blk
S.Rahim 23pts 11reb
P.Stojakovic 31pts 4reb 7ast 3/5 3pt
B.Wells 10pts
M.Bibby 20pts 8ast

Nuggets 93
M.Camby 16pts 6reb 1blk
K.Martin 11pts 11reb 1blk
C.Anthony 21pts 6reb
V.Lenard 13pts 3reb 2ast
A.Miller 4pts 4reb 9ast
E.Boykins 9pts 4asts
Nene 9pts 10reb

Nuggets Kings
Rebounds 43 29
Assists 17 18
Steals 5 6
Blocks 2 4
Fouls 12 11
FG% 45% 52%
3point 6/13 5/16
FT 9/16 17/22
Off Reb 21 8
Def.Reb 22 21

I agree.

The game was way too slow for me on 36, the pace was okay but the players just moved to slow, made the fast breaks almost disappear.

Once the CPU got in the lane, automatic points. They are too hard to stop in the paint.

Off. rebounding especially is too lopsided in favor of the CPU. I dont know if I suck at rebounding or if this needs to be tweaked more. But I feel like i could have blown them out if they wouldnt had 21 off rebounds. Because there 2nd shot almost always went in, because they were already in the paint.

It was very hard for me to generate offense at times too. I couldnt penetrate very well with Bibby, and once I did get by the PG, the PF or C would stick on me and I couldnt shake them.

If these things could be tweaked the game would be great!

Damn man, what are your Quarter lengths?

I'll try these but with Game Speed at 55.
