Re: What change, if not implemented = No Buy

CREW (hack free)

I think Crew would be one of the top buy or no buy features. Reason being is because its reach is pretty far. Many, myself included, only played crew in 2K11 and hardly any other mode. Many continue to play 2K11 for that mode alone.

How impactful is this to the game? Well, if I'm any indication -- I'm a diehard 2K fan and, after hearing of no crew in 2k12, for the first time I only bought the game for PC instead of 360 - wasn't worth the extra cost. And in 2K12 I played My Player for only about 10 games, when before I played like 2 or 3 seasons. I couldn't tell you much about any of the endorsements or anything in 2k12. There's literally zero incentive to play the mode anymore if there's not going to be an online arena to showcase it. The CPU gets static and repetitive, Crew doesn't. The CPU can't compete with the dynamism of Crew. There's no level of trying to achieve "perfect chemistry" or playing with and vs new crew players that a CPU can compare to. Yeah, there's teammup where you can invite your friends, etc. but it can't compete imo.

My Player + Crew are the perfect compliment to each other because it's in a way similar to real ball -- honing your skills, practicing in your drive way, etc then bringing it the court where all the action is. You start out low rated, start learning the game and controls, start training, getting your game up, and maybe playing a few pickup games online to see where you stack up. The offline "journey" of My Player largely ends when you start getting in the 80s to 90s range and a new mode of Crew begins, which can last until the next game release. So for me, no crew, zero reason to play my player. The time you put in to my player needs to lead to something to be worthwhile - and crew was. Fun stuff.

Crew, Tiger Woods-ish customization, hack free, servers, get rid of intentional foul / double team exploit = 2K13 must buy.

Re: What change, if not implemented = No Buy

Unless NBA Live is somehow able to pull of the miracle of offering up the best first year release of a basketball series ever, I'm not sure there's much of anything at this point that'd stop me from buying 2K13.

With that said, there'll be some things that'll definitely at least make me hesitate and I think most of them have been mentioned:

1. On-ball defense mechanic and player contact: Defense was akin to controlling a cockroach this year. Often it seemed an offensive player could experience success by running straight toward the defender, making that defender bounce out of the way and fall completely behind the offensive player.

2. The removal of blocks-via-elbow/armpit. I have grown tiresome of watching the ball float out of a shooter's hands because they knicked someone's ribcage on the way upward.

3. Functioning Online: I don't play against others online. However, it'd be really nice to have a fully functioning internet function to take advantage of an always operational 2KShare, YouTube, and Pressbook uploader.

... Actually, there may be one thing that'd make me not buy 2K13. If 2K decided to remove all classic teams, I could see myself saving my cash. Thankfully, I don't think that'll be the case.

jumpshot logic needs to change also. In 2k12 you cant even leave john wall open from 3pt range offline or online because he will knock them down like ray allen with a 64 3pt rating. I leave open bad shooters like larry sanders of the bucks and they coutinously hit jumpshots. This takes away from the strategy of the game on defense.

During online play shot release does not matter at all. The game decides whos hot and whose not. My little cousin doesnt know anything but popular players but he can take the heat online and hit continous jumpshots with wade or lebron even though he NEVER uses practice mode and knows nothing about the game. Cmon 2k no more hand holding, get back to the challenging play we used to have..

I agree with this...Also, they need to fix the servers..stats not counting, constantly being disconnected and they need to fix stats period in association mode...I would like to see an end to all the floaty passes...sometimes its hard to make a zone defense pay in this game because of all the slow passes..and I'm quick with the icons..in fact, I rarely let them down the entire game, I'm always tapping that button..

I just want a glitch free association mode for once. I don't care if there are no new features added to the mode.

I expect a LOT of gameplay improvements. Passing, contacts, layups, player movements, athleticism, effective double teaming (and CPU actually double teaming), better AI. Also I wish they would improve the audio crowd make it more alive.

If most of it hasn't been improved I'll try to be a real man and not buy it :)

Not sure I can handle playing 2 years with the same sport game though.

Re: What change, if not implemented = No Buy

I'm going to half-heartedly say this but if the commish isn't given the option to manually advance the OF then I may sit it out. I highly doubt it since I'm a big basketball fan but if the other game comes through in the online league department 2k may lose me eventually. I love everything about 2k but I'm an online player -- thats what keeps me gaming on a regular basis, not offline.

They get that one simple thing right and I'm coming back, no doubt about it (even though I'm probably coming back anyway )

Re: What change, if not implemented = No Buy

If the following gameplay issues are still in the game:

- 25 Speed keeping up with 90+ Speed player
- Up and under spam by CPU
- Pass animations causing turnovers
- CPU pushing defenders out of the way in the paint
- Lack of a solid transition game

then this game will be a pass for me. There's no point in me buying 2K13 if it still has the same gameplay issues that made 2K12 borderline unplayable for me.

If every boot-up of the game is preceded by an unskippable "We're playing basssssssssketbawwwwwwwwwl. We luh dat bassssssketbawwwwwwl", no buy.
