Plus 'Constant Pressure' in the OTF defensive scheme menu.

Gets great pressure, lots of steals in online/ranked games. I'm on a good winning streak on my online association because of this defensive scheme.
This is usually a recipe for getting killed at the rack by perimeter drivers

You should stop running this -- it doesn't work against people who've seen it ran a million times, lol. Once I see somebody making these adjustments, or notice it in game, my offense quickly turns to a NBA version of a dribble/drive offense. Getting to the rack becomes super easy and once I've made my opponent start collapsing in the paint, I just kick it out for easy spot up jumpers. I won't lie, it stops me from running plays because eventually a defender will step in front but going to a dribble/drive offense kills those settings. I beat a dude by 45 who came out in something like that the other day.

I'm starting to think OP runs zone majority of the time and wonders why he gets killed on the 3pt line

Read again.
I tried every defense and my opponent is always hitting shots.
I just got done playing the Cavaliers and he would just run up to the 3 point line and hit a 3.
Even Kyrie Irving hit a fadeaway 3 2 feet behind the line.
It seems to be impossible to keep the other team from hitting less than 10 3s.
Thats why I always lose. *beat the Cavs though*
It's some trick to shooting that everybody else seems to know that I don't because I actually have to try hard to make a 3 opposed to everybody else I play who racks up 3pt fgs every game.

Are you defending the person shooting?

It's hard to help you because you're not giving a lot of information.

What team are you using? What lineups? What is the actual percentage your opponents are shooting? How many points are coming on fast breaks? In the paint? From 3? Are you playing random games or friends that are more experienced at the game than you?

If you really want help you should keep track of some of this stuff over the course of a few games and then get back on here.

In general, I think one of the worst ways to play defense is to fiddle with all the settings before you know how to play fundamentally sound defense within the game engine, either on-ball or off.

- I use the majority of underrated teams. *pistons, pacers, nets, hornets, etc*

- Depends what team im playing with on what line-up I use. I mostly use Pistons.

- My opponents hit an average of about 11 three-pointers every time I play.

- Normally we're around the same number of fast break points. *Around 30* And alot of the time, my opponent will stop at the 3 point line and......swish. even If i contest it.

- They score averagely in the point because most of their points come from medium/long range jumpers. Speaking of the paint, Alot of time they drive to the paint and my defender gets knocked backwards to the ground and it's a blocking foul. *happens every single game*. And on offense, my centers and power fowards miss some ridiculously easy shot right under the rim. It'll bounce/roll of the rim. smh.

- I mainly play against randoms online. Im 178-127. It's not like they are so much better than me. It's just that either 1. They hit a ton of 3s. 2. My team plays sloppy defense and keeps letting them score. or 3. All of the above.

OK, so there's your first problem. The Pistons are one of the worst defensive teams in the game, and their perimeter defense is especially bad. Ratings aren't destiny in this game but they do matter.

Prince is really your only good outside defender. Stuckey is decent. Gordon is a disaster on defense, he's undersized and has low defensive awareness as well. Bynum, Knight Jerebko, Daye, Charlie V, they are all clueless -- all of them have defensive awareness in the 50s.

So if you're seeing them lose their assignments a lot and fail to close out on shooters, the game is pretty much working as it's intended. To play good defense with that team you have to pay attention to matchups and make sure you aren't putting terrible defenders up against good offensive players, and you'll have to be very active in switching to user control to take over for them when they get out of position.

Use matchups. Prince should be the guy you put on their best wing scorer, Stuckey should cover the next best scorer, and I would try to keep those guys on the floor as much as possible.

For 5-minute quarters, 30 fastbreak points is pretty high. That tells me you're playing an up-tempo pace. Which means tired players, which means they will be slower to react on defense.

Also, if you are running up and down a lot and turning it over or taking bad shots, the game's momentum factor will kick in and your opponent will get a bonus to hitting those contested shots. In a slower-paced game where you get your half-court defense set before the other player brings the ball across, those contested shots will be very low percentage shots.

Blocking fouls happen every game in real life too. Don't get frustrated, a blocking foul is a better outcome than a dunk.

50 games above .500 is nothing to sneeze at. Something about your playstyle must be working pretty well, but it's possible that whatever you're doing to win games also leaves your defense vulnerable. My guess is that if you focused on stopping the 3-ball -- using better defensive players, slowing down your tempo, refusing to go for steals -- you could probably do it.

Re: How Do You Stop The Opponent From Making Shots?...

I rarely go for steals since it often results in a foul. i do a good job at tipping and intercepting passes though.
On the defense matchup commen, I match people up according to speed/size. I'll never put Jason Maxiell on Rudy Gay even though Maxiell is good on defense. I would put Greg Monroe on Tim Duncan and Maxiell on Bonner tho.
And it seems like my defense is better when I play with my center. I now won 5 games in a row. And with shooting, for some reason I have to release the shot at what "slightly early" would be offline. Charlie Villanueva shot is hard online. I just tap the button and hope it goes in. *it does for the most part*
Gasspi *cavs SF* hit a corner 3-pointer buzzer beater last night to win the game for me.
