How do you run plays?

So I have been playing 2k12 a little more now that college basketball is back. I was good at 2k11 but am struggling a lot with 2k12. I like the quick plays like 'Deng get open' but thats about the only play that I have mastered. How do you practice all of the plays that are player specific? I have no idea what is supposed to happen on these plays so I dont know if its time to try to get the shot off or if I need to look to pass.

I love that 2k corrected a lot of the cheese that 2k11 allowed you to do. While this game is frustrating so far I feel that once I get the just of it I will be able to play great. In 2k11 it really didn't matter how much you practiced, if you are playing a good enough cheeser, you will still lose.

Thanks for any help, and feel free to provide more input on how to play this game because I am definitely no better then suspect at this point lol

Trying to call plays in quick match is a lost cause, you will just be double teamed as your pg brings the ball up the court. just use icon lead passing to get your open man into position for the shot you want, it is the only thing you can do in a quick match against a random.

in options go to presentation and set the option of show play (something like that) on full- this way when you run a play you'll see a diagrama shows you which direction to dribble and to whom pass the ball
