Point guards set up by the 3 point line. Most guards in the real NBA set up at least at the logo on the half court line. I know u don't have to stand directly in the circle, but can you at least stand in the vicinity near half court to set up a play?

I actually started doing that myself because if I don't, I get pulled around by the CPU on the perimeter. The AI makes it real difficult to run plays if you get to close to the 3pt line.

And I've been having some success running plays in this fashion so it looks like its possible. I don't think we can get the AI to pull it off though.

Theres a couple of problems that keep coming up. Some of the plays just stop working if you stray away from the path in the slighest. The second problem is the cpu will dribble themselves into a backcourt violation because of the terrible movement that 2k has implemented.

This is why I call the play before crossing half court. I use to hate seeing the play calling animation. But I have come to grips with it.

I believe calling the play early is the way to go, but in real life I do not believe point guards run the offense from near half court. Though I agree, they also don't walk right up to the tip of the three point line, stand with an idle dribble, then wait for movement either. I think there needs to be some sort of happy medium where the play can start with the point guard on the move, dribbling past half court and toward the three point line, so it just sort of flows.

I totally agree. It would be great for the game to be more seemless in this area. The on-the-fly play calling system in 2k10 seems to drawn up and takes too much time and effort to preform. They've had the same setup for several years now and it still takes longer than necessary to run a play. They should definitely revamp this area of the game. And as you mention, real life basketball players don't run up to the 3 point line or even half court just to set up a play all the time. There should be a window of opportunity to preform a play. Maybe having a small menu up at all times as the player walks up the court giving you the option to choose one of the many presented. Yet only allowing for a selected amount to be ran in certain ball situations. Kinda like the same logic of players preforming different dunks/layups at a better and logical time. Only difference is, play running should be more manual than anything.

Maybe this should be added to the Wishlist in the other thread lol. Kinda thought this out at a moments notice. Hope this post makes sense. Thanks for the inspiration VDusen04.
