NBA 2K>Do you call plays?
mahmer09 08:57 PM 11-03-2009
I have been an NBA 2K guy for a while, still not that great, but I enjoy the game. I have a hard time calling plays. Do you guys call plays? Can you play an effective game without calling plays and trying to find the open guys and read the flow of the game? Thanks, PTL [Reply]

The players wont run the plays when or fast enough for them to even be effective [Reply]

I never call any plays apart from the basic ones, because they always seem to take an exceedingly long time to execute. I wish 2K would study Live 10's playcalling mechanics and get a few ideas, because the plays are just perfect in that game. In 2K, I never even bother. [Reply]

I only use one play with my Pistons - the one for Rip Hamilton to run through a screen and get the ball for a midrange jumper. It takes forever for Rip to start running and most times I almost waste all 24 seconds until the play is completed. [Reply]

I used to set play calling to Auto in 2K9, but since the coach settings won't save in 2K10 I haven't bothered with play calling. Maybe after the patch I might focus more on calling plays. [Reply]

Calling motion offense sucks in this game, it takes forever to execute... I think 2K need to work on off the ball mo-caps next year. [Reply]

calling plays seems like a waste of time in this game for me also..takes to long to set them up, and by the time you get everyone where they need to be your wasted your shot clock. i just pass and try to find the open man myself.... [Reply]

I tend to work the ball around, looking for the best shot. About 4-5 times per quarter I will call plays for players I either want to get going or to exploit a certain matchup that I think favors me. I find that using the plays for individual players is a good way to bring a player back into the flow of the game. Kinda gets them jump started again. They also work as a great way to use up some clock when nursing a big lead. [Reply]

Even though it's a pain somtimes, i call plays on the way up court, that way the players get into position faster......most of time anyways. Hope this helps.

Ps. I think how guick they move into position is based on either game speed or quickness, or maybe both. [Reply]

I tried to but when you try to position your pg to a position the cpu decides to go on stick you like glue animation....annoying and the play develops way to long......... [Reply]
