Teammate AI defense is terrible

It's bad enough in the half court, but especially on fast break opportunities I will be on the guy with the ball, and the CPU teammate will get caught guarding no one as the computer team gets someone in position for an easy catch and layup

Teammate AI defense reflects user defense. The quicker guys come to accept this, the quicker they'll understand how dope this game is.

I just have to LOL. You tell yourself what ever you have to. The game is great, and theres no other options but it has plenty of flaws. copy/pasted from my other post.


I think 2k10 is on the right track and will get even better. But it might just on my 360/pc version. But if the cpu throws the ball into the post when im playing, the wing defender sldes behind me and the offensive player and doesnt make any type of play on the ball. If the Center has the ball and my PF tries to help, hes usually stuck somewhere between my back and the basket. When running back after a missed shot, my players when im playing all run into the paint and usually wing players are WIDE OPEN. Your not rewarded on defense like you are on offense.

I hold the CPU to under 50% almost every game and I can play defense. But theres no excuses to alot of the random things that the defense doesnt postition themselves well. I think there needs to be more 3 player animation added to help out.

You're absolutely right, it can be atrocious at times. Thing is 2K didn't start having this problem until 2K9, before then it was just fine.

Maybe it has something to do with some of thier staff jumping ship to EA? I heard rumors about it in the past. Maybe I heard it wrong.

exactly, i dont think they have the personnel to get help defensive and AI defensive logic right anymore.

because what they have created in 2k10 is just bad on those fronts.

seriously makes me think either they never have seen nba basketball before, or they never even tested the game out.

such terrible defense, yet i still love the gane, that 2k engine is a gold mine. just wish that there were a few more developers who knew what they were doing.

Yea the defense is horrible.... I was this close to chucking my controller last night because of how stupid the defensive AI is in this game.
The passes into the paint are ridiculous, its hard to get the computer to stop getting all their buckets in the paint. For some reason, the defensive bigs just get out of position sometimes for no reason, and its a easy to pass to under the bucket and score. What makes it worse is its nearly impossible to block layups in this game.
But this seems to only happen when there's a user team, I watched a game between the cpu vs cpu last night, and everybody played defense the way they were suppose to. Its like they make the user teams defense dummer.
