Rebound ratings

Discussion time...

what's most important when it comes to in-game rebounding?

1.) Height
2.) Actually Off & Def rebound numbers
3.) Vertical

a 7"2 center with 50/50 boards and 50 vertical
vs.
a 6"10 PF/C with 90/88/ boards and 50 vertical
vs.
a 6"9 PF with 75/75/ boards and 95 vertical

who would end the game with the most rebounds? (all else equal)

Re: Rebound ratings

Unfortunately, in this game, height means more than it should.

CP3 has 4 or so triple doubles this year, but good luck consistently getting 10 boards with him in 2K9.

Re: Rebound ratings

This is a good topic. I meant to come back to it before I but I forgot. Anyway the question is kind of hard to answer because of the human control factor. For instance.

If left uncontrolled the 7'2" guy isn't going to do much. Regardless of his height the comp isn't going to let him grab alot of boards. Rebounding attributes affect positioning, and agressiveness when going for the board and 50 guys don't have that. The difference comes in when you select him. That's partially negated when you manually try to go for the rebound.

The 6'10" guy with the good rating and CPU controlled will dominate. His positioning, and boxing out will see him grabbing the lion's share of the boards. Controlling him isn't going to make much of an improvement. On the contrary your chances of messing up a board are probably just as good as grabbing one the computer would have missed.

The 6'9" guy is iffy. With a high vertical rating like that he doesn't always need to be in position. A 90 vertical gives him rebounding animations that the other guys don't have. If out of position he's able to run and grab boards, and you'll see this happen every now and then. The timing on some of these can be quite difficult for an inexperienced human control player, but the comp will take advantage of the vert rating.

Summing up if you're switching to the guys for the rebounding the 7'2" guy's performance stands to benefit the most, and the 6'10" guy the least.

The funny thing is that the situation for me isn't very hypothetical as I have a set of guys who fit somewhat into this mold.

Out of 10 rebounds you'll probably see the following spread.

7'2" 1-3
6'10" 5-6
6'9" 2-4
