Has anyone had problems with the momentum system in this game? I find it to be absolutely hateful. Sure, momentum exists in real life when a team goes on a run, but it doesn't make star players forget how to play basketball. Whenever I have the clutch factor setting on, I'll build up a nice lead in the first quarter, playing a good game of basketball, then the game will go into rubberband mode. At that point, even Kobe will start bricking WIDE OPEN shots, and not just once or twice, as that's realistic, but all the drat time.

I can prove that's cheating on part of the CPU when I go into tutorial mode, where the player is always wide open, and find out that yup, Kobe hits most of his shots.

Altering my strategy doesn't work either. Gasol will brick poorly contested shots deep in the paint, so I can't do post play, and trying to draw fouls also doesn't work, because whereas merely touching a CPU controlled player will result in a foul, the CPU will just ram into my players without getting called.

That always goes away when I turn clutch factor off, but then the games aren't competitive. The CPU misses too much and my FG% winds up being high. It's difficult to find an in-between. =/

There's a slider for the clutch effect. Modify until you're happy.

And before anyone complains - yes, it does work.

Thank you, I'll try that next time I play 2K9. I managed to rectify all the other issues with sliders and rosters, but this is one thing that will eventually culminate in the demise of my controller.

Somewhere between 20-30 should find you a happy medium.

You hit it on the nail buddy, calling timeouts is SOOOOO underated in this game. Call a timeout and adjust, thats why they give you the multiple options (rebound, defense, offense & ball control).

Even with timeouts the effects are still overdone at default. The OP has a point.

Pared what would you recommend; keeping it OFF or turning it down to 20-30?

In case you're wondering, it's on 35 in our league. Seems to work very well there IMO.
