Re: The New Lock-On D

I like how the original poster hates the feature, but almost everyone else loves it. Funny...

you dont have to use the lock on D. In 2k8 I just let my guys stand in regular position and just follow the other guy. It works too because you can move around faster.

No but how do you use it once LT is pressed to swicth tiers?

Use the RS towards/away from the guy you're defending to make it tight or loose. You can also move the RS L or R to shade that side.

Well to clarify, I don't lock-on all the time but I often use it to re-acquire the guy I'm guarding, but like I said, if the lock is on sag, then you actually step away from the shooter intead of closing in the gap.

And to those that are saying it's OK because you don't have to use it, that just doesn't make any sense. Why put in a feature (and a well thought of one in principle) if the intention is not to use it? Ofcourse we can all adapt to it eventually, and use it the way it would work for our own style of play. But the question is, is this how the programmers intended it to be used?

The programmers intentions were to improve accessibility by making it easier for people to play D. If you don't use lock on, you still get the same defensive stance and can get the collision animations and shades and whatnot. The Lock-On D is only an assist, so honestly if you learn the angles that lock on d uses, you could play just as effectively without actually holding it down.
