Don't take my word for this, but I think this might be in this year. I seen a picture of the team stats with all-time record or whatever and it had a "Retired Numbers" section with the numbers listed

Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

Yea but can we NOT assign that number to that team is the question. #33 might be retired for the Celtics, but does that mean I can't put a created player with the #33 jersey on that team?

ccaaarrrrrreeeeeeeeeeerrr mmmmmmmoooooooddddddeeeee

Everything DC has mentioned are small things that cater to the hardcore and that wouldn't look attractive on the back of the game; with the exception of draft day. You can also incorporate that draft day with a career mode. It will be a user generated experience and it should vary from player to player. Look at the career mode of MLB 08 by SCEA - one of the best in the business. Even the competition has career modes now and once their gameplay level steps up I am sure many of us who want a career mode will be more than happy to transfer over.

Basketball isnt all about skill , its bout having a good scheme to hide your weaknesses

I like this. The ability to game plan specifically would be pretty cool and add to the realism of the game.

Adding to the depth of the Draft is a must IMO. Create-a-draft class or create-a-prospect with the ability to import a real picture of that player would be awesome as well.

Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

Well I am going to say this is probably to early considering the game isn't set for the real release date, and many (including me) won't get their hands on it until midnight tonight or tomorrow sometime. But here is a list that I've wanted for a long time.

1. Superstar mode/career mode, or whatever you want to call it. The life of the NBA, NBA09 has it, and EA has done it with their football games. 2k kind of had it with that street mode where you played games, went through a tournament and then was drafted into the NBA. That was a great start, but it needed A LOT of work.

A. If College Hoops comes back, put this into it and be able to bring the player up the NBA. You would be ranked as a player and set into a mock draft, teams that have interest will invite you to workouts, and you'll go to rookie work outs to perform a set of drills and games, ect...just like they do in real life.

B. If CHs is done for awhile, make it where you can create a player, or take over ANYONE (even a D-league player) in the NBA and play as them. If you create a player or take over a FA, then you get invited to a number of draft camps and such. Perform your way onto an NBA roster.

Once your on a team you would go through the practices (if you choose to), to improve your player, your team and you chances of playing time. You will also develop a playing style. Example: Your a point guard and you always find the open man, you take shots when your open and make them, play hard all around and do well on defense. If that's the case then you would be well liked and trusted by your teamates - playing inside what your role is, WHICH your coach would somewhat assign you to. Then there is the other things you could do, like slack off on defense, miss wide open shots, shoot too much, ect ect, or play outside of the role you have been assigned. If you are unhappy with your role, you can perform outside of your role, only if you do it in the right manner. Example: Your job is to play rebound and play defense, but you want to score. Say your team is getting killed, and you take over the game and win...your coach might promote you to more of a scoring role and you'll be trusted with more shots, or more oppertunites to prove yourself.

You'll hire an agent to perform things like promoting you and such to other teams in case your unhappy or want a bigger contract, ect ect.

I personally would love this mode and have been wishing for it for a few years, but getting Association mode and things like that are more important to me, but this would be a killer mode that would grab the attention of a bunch of people.

2. A more improved Association mode. Now I haven't played the full version of 2k9 so bare with me. The D-League NEEDS to be added. There are so many players in there that always get 10 day contracts and whatnot, it NEEDS to be added. Training camps need to be added, put your whole team through workouts, not just one or two players each season, but be able to focus on the weaknesses of each player. Similar to how you can do in CH with the practices, and even put the practice thing in NBA2k10. Better coaching options and schemes - it's always needed improvement and from what I hear it still does. Other little things like being able to set ticket prices, food prices, additions to arena, FAN days, ect ect.
-Fantasy draft mode: BE ABLE TO SIGN THE DRAFT PICKS! Last season in 2k8, you'd pick your team and then go look at the salaries, if you'd pick say Kevin Durant or Oden in the first round they'd be making Kobe money. Are you serious? Why don't their real contracts stay with them in this? Or at least be able to sign the players, so if you don't want 15 players you can cut it to 12.

^I'll add more to this when I play the game, but there will always be areas of improvement for this.

DC has some great ideas too...cosign with him.

The ability to argue a call, you have a chance to overturn it or you get thrown out. I think it'd be a nice feature.

Overturn a call? This is NBA not NFL. No offense, but that would be retarded and completely unrealistic.

I really like this idea. Also, this would be a chance to add in a lot more turnovers in the game. Have random questionable traveling calls when you do a hop-step/spin move. Questionable out of bounds calls. Charge/blocking foul situations that could go either way. Superstar calls (Wade in '06 finals anyone??)

I think with questionable calls, your coach/player should have the ability to argue the call. That particular call may not get overturned, but you will be able to influence the ref a bit and the next questionable call may go in your favor. If you argue too many, or too hard on any one call, your coach/player can get tossed out of the game or get a Tech which can have either a positive or negative effect on the team. Maybe your coach getting tossed lights a fire under the team and they play better. Perhaps it does the opposite and the team begins to play disjointed.

I think the best way to show the results of the call arguing would be through the commentators. I don't want to see a meter on the screen or anything, I think that would be cheesy. Just have the commentators say something like "The head coach was clearly upset with that foul call and he's letting it be known. I think he has a valid case, but he better be careful out there"

Something to that effect. If a player/coach gets tossed out, lets get a nice cutscene while the commentators say something like "these situations are always iffy. Sometimes this will light a fire under the team after the coach gets tossed, while other times players will visibly lose their focus. Lets see how this team handles it"

I think that would be a great dynamic added to the game. Tie it in with player personalities (Artest, Rasheed more likely to get tossed or fire up the team, Phil Jackson/star players able to greatly influence refs etc) and 2k would really have something here.
