Another year searching for right setts....not again!!!

Playing 2k8 i spent most of the time searching for the most realistic 12 min sliders with no success.... i never finished a single season because of frustrating unrealistic gameplay and stats even trying all sorts of sliders found on this forum, at the end i never enjoyed the game really.


2k9 seems to follow the same road....no feelings of realism in any sliders at all!

I don't understand why it's so hard obtain realistic gameplay and stats without adjusting all time rules, coaching profiles, players tendencies etc. Seems like 2ksports made the most beautiful car in the world and left it uncomplete, and we have to spend our time around searching for the right engine instead of driving it.


Look at soccer games....no sliders, no problems....you enjoy what you 've got...

I feel the same way.

Especially about the missing sliders in soccer games.

Trying out dozens of sliders+rosters+coaching profiles instead of just playing the game is very frustrating.

I think the opinion "with the right sliders and rosters this game is great" is just a lame excuse for a unfinished product. And if not it's 2Ks job to provide us with the right sliders and rosters not the paying costumers.

Same thing with EA.

This thread is the best one ever, every year they try to make new things in the game to attract us, and we are attracted to these things which is why we buy the game, but then we found out that the original, BASIC stuff are all gone, just playing the game the right, realistic way is impossible now, I never see these problems before, too many points in paint? Back Door Cut? Pick and Roll too effective? NEVER! I really missed playing NBA LIVE 2004, that game was like the best game EVERRR!!! Compared to this year, I mean, I can never finish a year in association with only 29 games == , I found it hard, because the game is just so bad realisticly and just can't be fixed, BUT since this is THE NEWEST GAME TODAY, I will keep trying slider and hopefully I will get a set right soon, which is never. I also agree with you saying everyday is adjusting slider instead of playing the game, SOCCER IS A GREAT EXAMPLE, PES or Winning, do you ever need to fix anything? NO, because the game is set perfectly, they never really added any new stuff every year, just the same game but we keep buying it because is the perfect game, hopefully 2K can see this thread and make some changes, GIVE US A PATCH!

I feel your pain, I'm in the same boat. I spend more time every day tweaking sliders than I do actually playing and enjoying the game from beginning to end. No matter what I do, I end up noticing big flaws in the gameplay that just almost ruin it for me. I just want to be able to pop in the game and play a realistic brand of ball. They got it almost nailed with the presentation, animations, and graphics....but we shouldn't have to be spending soooo much time tweaking the sliders.

I really hope that 2k can just delete the slider or NBA rules or gameplay settings, all of these need to be gone, because it is their JOB to adjust these FOR us before we even buy the game, once we get the game, we should be able to enjoy the game RIGHT AWAY, no bugs, nothing, simple, look at soccer games, after I buy the game, I just need to fix a few apperances for certain players, then directly, assocation mode and enjoy it for a year, and 2k, stop focuses on bringing new elements into the game and hope you can sell more games, it was working b4, but after this year, I don't see it happening, almost EVERYONE says this game sucks, and none almost NONE of them can start an assocation after we played for nearly 2 months, we are so busy talking here about how to adjust these stupid sliders to get the game right, bascially, 2K GIVES US THE GAME WITH PROBLEMS, AND GIVE US A YEAR TO FIX THESE, AND AT THE END, WE NEVER EVEN PLAY OR ENJOY THE GAME AT ALL!

i don't wanna give a bad judge on 2k9 because on first look it's the best basketball game we have ever had, but looking behind the scenes what have we got?....no realism, and when i said "realism" i didn't mean lebron chewing his fingers on FT line, but stats and tendencies respecting a real nba game. Did I ask too much???....

Yeah fellas, Ive been playing 2K bball since it released and have loved it. Last year I got the PS3 got the 2K8 and have never played a season due to attempting to tweak the sliders. This is the most frustrating thing about the whole game. Even with this I still love the feel of the game. At times it does give you realistic gameplay but then you have times when you cannot compete in a true sim game. I love the game but as all of you have stated even Live has the same problems. It looks they add by subtracting which leaves too many negatives, and negatives in realism causes disatisfaction and undue frustration for all.

yeah no slider sets are good at all. this game is just hard to fix cuz when u fix some, u mess up others

Totaly agree. And we all know the reason: performance disparity of teams make that if you adjust sliders to obtain realistic staticstics against strong teams, then when you play against weak teams it´s unrealistic (toooo easy); If you adjust for weak teams,then strong teams are unrealistic (toooo hard).
A team slider or "factor" to improve or decrease performance of each team, or one single slider to even all plays,something like clutch factor to help the weak team will solve it for me.
