The Key: Play Passing Lanes

Drop the passing lanes slider to stop backdoor cuts. It's that simple. Yall are increasing passing lanes slider. BBall fundamentals: overplay the passing lane, opportunity for the back door pass. So, if u drop the play passing lanes slider, ur defenders are less likely to overplay and less likely to get beat back door. Thus, eliminated layups and easy points in the paint. Try it.

Edit: I play Superstar...Passing Lanes 25

Re: The Key: Play Passing Lanes

yeah in reality your correct..
but in nba2k9...play passing lanes doesnt make the defender overplay the lane. it just makes them attempt to intercept passes more aggressively...this actually helps more than hinders backdoors in the game, because the issue of backdoors is the silly defense lags behind cutters, there is no physical off ball containment D so when a pass is made the offender has the advantage..
however with passing lanes high, when the pass is made to the cutter, the defender has a higher chance of getting a hand on the ball, stifling the pass instead of watching the pass get through to the offender who then has the advantage and the momentum.

i think a higher passing lanes helps contain the backdoors more.
from my experience anyways...

that was the case in 2k8 as well.

Re: The Key: Play Passing Lanes

the def pressure coaching profile slider is what causes the defense to overplay or underplay the offense.

so when playing the cpu, drop your def pressure coaching profile slider to under 50 odd and it should help with backdoors more..
this was teh case in 2k8 as well.
but keep in mind. dropping it too low will leave space for outside shooters to get an uncontested shot.

You are 100% correct. A higher passing lane number actually leads to more tipped and stolen pass attempts. Again, it is relative to how the rest of the slider set is put together but NOT being able to intercept passes is not going to help do away with back door passes.

Reading the manual states that this is what that particular slider is supposed to do. It is not play, or set up camp in the passing lane while d-pressure is how close you remain to the guy you are guarding.

Re: The Key: Play Passing Lanes

I wonder if the cpu sliders affect cpu-controlled teammates on a user-controlled team. I was making too many passes into the key, so I upped the cpu passing lanes slider, and they started deflecting my passes, and their passes started to get deflected by my teammates, too.
