Re: Sliders affecting pts in paint & movement.

No matter what sliders I try (Pro, Superstar, All Star or HOF) there are two major problems -

1. Number of points in the paint.
2. Movement of computer controlled players by either comp team or human team.

I'm getting realistic scores, fouls, turnovers but the shooting percentages are usually around 5-8% too high because of the number of times the comp goes down low and so therefore the rebounds are a bit low as well.

I have tried everything including moving both game and coach sliders to take close shots at 0 and take mid range shots at 100 and I still don't notice a radical difference.

I should also add attack the basket and post player are on 0!

Thoughts on any other parts of the sliders that would affect this.

Also, how many times does the pg just get the ball and dribble until 6 seconds to go before moving. I have upped game tempo but still don't notice a great difference.

Look forward to hearing thoughts and perhaps we can all get to the bottom of this!

Re: Sliders affecting pts in paint & movement.

I am with you on this. I am close to not playing this game anymore. I recall having a couple of games (10 min qtrs) where there were only 38-46 pts in the pain, but my last 4-5 games have had no less than 58 PIP.

It is extemely frustating. I am getting pretty good FG%s though (39% to 55%), which is a pretty good range.

Suggestions. FWIW - I haven't tried playing on Pro yet.

If you're playing on the pc, try out my sliders. This is one of the major issues I tried to address.

Wonderland's PC sliders/settings

If not, you should go ahead and lower the close shot and attack basket sliders to around 1. It might seem extreme, but trust me they still get in the paint and sometime dominate the paint.

Re: Sliders affecting pts in paint & movement.

I think itīs impossible to change that. Iīve changed sliders as well as coaching profiles, but no matter what I do the cpu still scores 50-60 points in the paint. Add 15-20 free throws, a couple of threes and you get 90-100 ppg without a single midrange-shot. So what the hell is the point of all the fancy signature-shots and player tendencies when all you see is post game, backdoor passes and jacking up threes?
I watch cpu vs cpu, and itīs ridiculous. In my last game Utah took 6(!) jumpers in 48 minutes(midrange-slider maxed out)...pathetic!

The game has amazing potential, so I wonder why they screwed up that bad. I understand that a basketball game has to be aimed at younger/arcade-players, but I feel itīs too much! Why donīt make a real NBA-sim with an arcade-mode for more action?

Re: Sliders affecting pts in paint & movement.

Just for everyones information I have tried adjusting the obvious settings of attack basket and close shot and jacked up mid range shot to max but is there really any noticeable difference? Well, I would say no.

I was wondering what other sliders would affect this?

I did a test using the nets and reduced a few of there starters to 0 on attack basket, 0 on close shots, 99 on mid range shots, coach sliders to 0 close shots and 99 mid range shots and game sliders to 0 close shots and 100 to mid range shots. What did it do? Nowt.

Garrgh! Frustrating coz this is a definite upgrade on NBA 2k8, player movements etc....

You can also try lowering offensive awareness as well as the pass to post slider.

It's all about defense. The AI is programmed to take the best shots, which is good. The problem is that your CPU teammates are so terrible on defense, they can't stay in front of their players leaving tons of open players in the paint.

You CAN'T play this game without at least increasing the user defensive awareness to 75 and lowering the computer offensive awareness to 25.

Re: Sliders affecting pts in paint & movement.

That's the kind of thinking I'm looking for.

Pass to Post was already set to 0.

Defensive Awareness has been set to 80 and Offensive awareness was on 30 and still way too many points in the paint.

Does passing lanes have anything to do with backdoor passes etc??

Re: Sliders affecting pts in paint & movement.

hey i tried putting off awareness to zero and they don't pass the the guy cutting anymore, the theory is this, the guy is STILL cutting, backdoor you all day, but since the off awareness is so low that means the cpu doesn't play smart ball now, so thye would look for the guy cutting which is a nice and good IQ basketball play, so this is the only way, and obviosuly put user to 100 for defensive awanress, this completely take away their backdoor issues, and force them take the jumpshot by giving them spaces so they shoot all day n never drive, but obivoulsy they might make the shot on u.
