Zero Tendencies

Just a shot in the dark, Has anyone tried to zero out the tendency sliders to see if the players play to their real tendencies? I would try it, but I am at work..

I don't mean all tendencies, just the shooting tendencies.

Sounds like a good idea, I'll give it a try later!

Re: Zero Tendencies

If you lower them the teams move the ball around more and less aggressive at cutting to the hole, but they are also less aggressive overall which leads to some teams not playing their uptempo style

Re: Zero Tendencies

I am actually messing on HOF with most things zeroed out (except shot's made, speed, and boards) and am getting my best, most fun games so far..... If I get them tuned I'll toss them up here for ridicule.

So you zeroed out ratings, too? Do your changes improve the problems with points in the paint and backdoor cuts?

Well, yes and no. The thing is, you tweak one slider, one notch and the game plays so different. It is very frustrating. I mean you change "O-rebounds" a notch and all of a sudden - it's 100% different. Basically, I set most at "0" and began building from there.

What i have got going now is resulting in less PIP but I have nowhere near enough of a sample to say "it works." I simply hate tossing stuff up and polluting the board because I had three good games with a set, ya know?

my games are fun as hell right now, and they feel like a game but in the end - PIP is too high, or the shooting % is too high. I think I am close though, i just hope I didnt jinx myself. HOF is definitely playable though.....

Re: Zero Tendencies

I think the issue with 0 tendency sliders (at least when I posted about them here for 2k6) is that it feels really canned. As said the teams pass around quite a bit and will not even take open shots or drive down an open lane. I'd be interested to try it but I don't want to take away from the team styles.

I dont think anyone wants to take away from the team styles. I just have to ask myself - do I want teams to play to the style they played last year 9or are supposedly going to play this year) or do I want the game to give a good sim feel. If I honeslty ask myself which is more important - I go for feeling like I am getting a great flowing game of ball. Player tendencies can and will alter the whole "no driving" thing. Driving @ zero is still yeilding driving when it is there (so far).

Re: Zero Tendencies

Well, You could do that and bump up the coach profiles for the uptempo teams like the suns, warriors, and stuff and put their coach slider shooting tendencies way up so they shoot the ball more often and then teams would really play more to their tendencies
