CPU AI late game problem

Last 3 games I have played, I am seeing something from the CPU which is really bothering me.

Each of the last 3 games, I had a two possession lead on the CPU with about 20 -30 seconds left, and in all the 3 games, the CPU held the ball until about 5-10 seconds and threw up a garbage shot. If they did score, they didnt foul me when I inbounded the ball.

I never noticed this before because I was pretty much losing every game or I just didnt have time to finish a game...

Has anyone experienced this? I am hoping its a fluke or something, but it has happened in 3 straight games... and its making me a bit nervous. If it does happen all the time, I would think its safe to say its a game killer for me.

p.s I have been using tjnigs slider set. They work well but I am wondering if because CPU OFF AWARENESS is set to 0...thats the reason why the CPU is acting like this?

I think you may have answered your own question right there.

Exclamation Re: CPU AI late game problem

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm... I wish this isnt true that due to Off. awareness set to Zero, CPU doesnt foul at the end of the game, to create more possesions. I havent really notice this, but I will DEFINITELY test this a lot! (Prob is I have to play a perfect game, on which the scores will be close at the end, probably try it on 2mins per quarter, and I have to be leading by a copule of points...)

And if this is true, it sucks, bec. the zero to off. awareness to CPU just works to stop the CPU from cheesing, eh? ggrrr...

Has anybody, experience the same thing, using my sliders? please post.

Are you using HOF as your difficulty?

Anyway, back to testing, and testing and testing... I'll update you.

Re: CPU AI late game problem

Yes I was playing on HOF difficulty. Ya it really bothered me because the CPU should have looked for a quick shot and then foul immediately. However they let the clock run down and didnt even foul me when they were down by 2 points with 10 seconds left.

Make sure intentional fouls are on, can be found at the settings of coaching menu.

If so, press select in your defensive turn.

It is on and they wrap the guy up and no foul is called. The guy just walks it off or drops the ball like nothing happened. i read in a few other forums it is frequently a glitch the past two years...

Re: CPU AI late game problem

I've watched a cpu vs cpu game with off awr set to 0 and both teams played realistically in a close game to force OT, this was only once I've seen a close game tho and it was the first week the game was released, so I will keep an eye out on this......FYI I have game speed at 100 so that may have something to do with them rushing at the end of the game.....Also try turning clutch factor on.......

Re: CPU AI late game problem

I'm not sure the game speed should affect it, but this may also be a hidden glitch.

But about the clutch factor beng on or off, this may have an effect, I always played with it on though.

Regarding the intentional fouls. have you erased all the files from previous 2k's? 2k7 / 2k8? Numerous reports has been accounted that this screws up 2k9's settings, and might have affected the 2k9 settings. Please check your NBA rules again just tom make sure.

Hope you can fix this soon, I feel you, that sucks!

Smile Re: CPU AI late game problem

@ JT30

Thank God! After testing against the Celtics, Nuggets, and Nets. Even at Zero for the off. awareness of CPU, they still foul during late game situations to force OT (create possesions).

I played with the clutch factor on, Game speed at 50. I also tried it with the Game speed at 0, and 100. And yes they still fouled.

What I notice was, if my lead is between 1 to 3 pts, if they still have a foul to give, they intentionally foul me right away, then wait for until about +/- 10 seconds left on the clock before they hit me again with a foul. Although, players with foul trouble hesitates to intentionally foul the ball handler, I ussually see the PF come out and foul me.

I also tried this on OFF Aware of CPU set to 100, they still do the same.

Haven't tried it with cluth factor off, but I dont really consider playing with it off. So there you go.

EVEN AT ZERO OFF. AWARENESS, CPU STILL COMMIT INTETNIONAL FOULS, TO CREATE POSSESIONS.
