This is for potential edits for the players on 2K10. As usual, 2K doesn't do that great of a job giving out potential ratings. [Reply]

Do it have to be those numbers or anything in between? [Reply]

Nice job. Would this be used more for creating draft classes or should we dive into the current roster and apply these potentials? [Reply]

I am using it for draft classes as well as pre-existing player edits

I just used those numbers because they are easier to reference/group. [Reply]

Just a few notes

1. If the player doesn't take care of his body (Baron) then I will take 5 points from the level that they SHOULD be. Example would be Baron getting a 75 instead of an 80.

2. If I feel a superstar/star type player might LEAVE his current situation (Wade/Bosh) then I will subtract 5 from where they should be. Remember that potential rating deals with trade logic of the CPU. Wade went from a 95 to a 90 because of this. [Reply]

Have you simmed a season just to check how your edits affect the AI trade logic ? ... despite the spread between the ratings, the AI can still manage to do unbalanced trades ... your idea may help to lessen that but I would like to know/confirm how does a 5 pts difference in that rating results in preventing unbalanced trades ... I just don't like how potential is done in this game (or any game for that matter). Potential is just that, potential.

Greg Oden was drafted number 1 for a reason. Sure he's not the player many envisioned, but he's coming off an injury, and he's still only 21 years old. However on the game, he's rated an 82 potential.

Kevin Durant is a unique player. There's never been a player his size with those skills. His potential should be 99.

Brandon Roy was a 4 year athlete in college, and came into the league polished, which is why he has a high overall rating. His potential should not be very high, cause he's not going to get much better. Plus if his potential was that great, he would not have got drafted #6.

LeBron is already one of the top 3 players in the league...how much better is he REALLY going to get? Why is he still rated with a 99 potential? This is his 7th year!

I won't even get into all the older players who have high potential ratings. I know trade value is taken into account, but it needs to be calculated differently. [Reply]
