NBA 2K Rosters>2K10 Standing Dunk Ratings

Is it me, or are some of these ratings too low for certain players? I ask because why would a player like Elton Brand have a higher standing dunk rating than LeBron James? True enough Brand is a PF, but they are both the same height, and LeBron has way more hops. Guys like Al Jefferson have higher standing dunk ratings than Kevin Durant when Durant is more athletic, and the same height. Even shorter guys like D-Wade can dunk off a standstill with no problem.

I understand this was done to differentiate the bigs from the perimeter players, but guys with hops should have no problem dunking on the inside. [Reply]

I believe anyone over 6'9 can stand dunk easily...at least a 75 or higher. [Reply]

I have just maxed out the standing dunk ratings for my guys who do standing dunks (Gooden, Dampier, Humphries) because leaving them at 70-80 wasnt allowing them to do any standing dunks. [Reply]

Standing dunks across the board are simply too low. I just saw the Bulls/Miami game, and Wade doesn't need any type of gather to dunk the ball, yet his standing dunk rating is at 50. LeBron's is at 55 while players like Drew Gooden is at 70. It's just retarded to me.

If they are worried about people cheesing, just increase the body contact and fouls like they said they would. Basketball 101 tells u to go up strong in the paint, not do little sissy layups. [Reply]

2k has a new way of determining this rating so this is a reason for the wider range

Another change we made to the inside game on offense relates to the Standing Dunk attribute. After witnessing a lot of domination in the paint by getting the ball inside and dunking with a high Standing Dunk player like Amar’e, we realized our inside dunk logic needed revisiting. The logic to determine when and where a player can do this has been tightened and the addition of inside contact shots has forced contested under-basket dunks to trigger less. Ratings have been adjusted as well to account for too many players having 99-rated Standing Dunk attributes. Last year players had only three ratings: 50, 75 and 99. This year we’ve expanded this to have any number between 25 and 99, which allows for much more flexibility. [Reply]

Those #'s may not be completely accurate but they're close.

I understand the rating system, but the players have the wrong ratings. Under this system, Wade cannot do a standing dunk with his 50 rating. Jason Maxiell is only 6-7, but since he's a PF, his standing dunk is higher than a superior athlete like LeBron? Doesn't make sense. [Reply]

Maxiell should have a higher standing dunk than LeBron. He is a bruiser in the paint and a higher % of his points come from standstill interior dunks than LeBron. Wing players for the most part won't have high standing dunk ratings which I understand.

Post players will be higher for the most part. Also take this into consideration. It isn't a good idea to max out the standing dunk ratings for "every" big man because every big man isn't a fericious finisher at the rim. LeBron isn't what I would consider a FEROCIOUS finisher at the rim. He gets the majority of his dunks from the driving variety. Yes he finishes strong but KMart, Nene, Dwight, Brandon Bass, Shaq. A few folks I think of that PUNISH the rim from WITHIN.

Wade can get up but he shouldn't be dunking on anyone from the standstill. Also in practice mode Wade dunks off the VERT [Reply]

Wade shouldn't be dunking on anyone from a standstill, but he's done it before. My MAIN problem is when a perimeter player catches the ball under the rim, those who are more than capable (and will dunk), will instead do a layup when NO ONE is near them.

Also, I have a problem when low vertical big guys have a higher standing dunk rating than LeBron. I'm not looking at the ratings now, but I'm almost positive that Brad Miller's is higher, and I KNOW that Al Jefferson's is. Al Jefferson does not dunk on people like that.

Carmelo is another one. That move he did in his last game where he went baseline to the dunk cannot be done in 2K10. [Reply]
