Coach Help D and Zone Edits (Want Other Roster Editors opinions)
Ok so we've had a bunch of discussions/arguments about ratings boosting vs using tendencies etc...
Im pretty locked for myself on with what data to use to figure out what ratings and tendencies, but one i dont have a handle on is "Help Defense" in the coaching profiles.
What are your thoughts on this slider?
Sadly nobody charts this stat for teams so there is no easy fix.
There is no way mathematically of pinpointing how much or little each team plays zone without actually taping games and actually charting how many defensive possesions that team uses it....Frankly thats a bit too much.....even for me. But I DO NOT believe in guessing.
We need some solid way of figuring out a formula to determine what it should be set at. Or at least who plays it most to least. We need to develop a scale.
Its def not perfect but these are a few things i think can be grouped to at least give us some sort of small way of tracking zone play (more vs less).
1. Illegal defense calls. Technicals fouls get called on them. This isnt a tracked stat. The possible workaround is finding the total technicals called on team X, then subtracting all the techs that are commited by a player. Whatever is left over id think would have to be Illegal Defense techs or tech's on the coach (not very many).
2. Number of ASSISTED jumpshots against. Admittedly this is a very liberal way of going about it. The only reason id consider entering this stat into the equation is because most assited jumpers come on prenatrate and kickouts. Which is somewhat what the high rated help defense can cause.
What about Zone Defense sliders? Im at a loss here.
Maybe something to do with three point shots given?
Anyways...discuss? Nogster? Rashidi? Anybody? Wide open to all suggestions/input here.
