This was already posted in another thread, but I think it warrants its own thread.
From the 2k Admin guy over at the 2k forums:
"It confirmed what we suspected was the problem and this is in fact a valid work around. If you mute your headsets before the game starts it will help a lot in starting the game with less lag. Turning them back on once in the game shouldn’t cause any problems."
By in the game he means after tip-off. What I haven't been able to get an answer on is whether you have to turn it off before even starting the 5 on 5 game, or whether you can tell everyone to turn it off in the lobbies. Doing the latter, I've played two games that were smooth but the rest have been the normal slideshow until enough people quit. So I have no idea.
