Should I pick up MVP NCAA?

I really loved the MVP basball game back in 2005. I am still playing my franchise that I have from when I first bought the game. I want to try this new game. I am looking to see if anyone who has played it would recommend it to a MVP 2005 fan. I am playing on the PS2.

It's a good solid game of baseball. The real complaint that I have for this game was the really out-dated rosters(2005 season). There is an updated roster out there now to use so that makes the game much more fun & realistic. If you like the older MVP series then you're gonna like this game too. It is a college baseball game instead of pro but it plays about the same. If you're into college baseball then pick the game up, use the updated rosters,& then you're gonna love this game. Thanks!

Have the graphics been improved at all. I remember looking at MVP 2006 and thinking that 2005's were better. Thanks for the info I think I give it a shot the next time I am by the game store.

I believe that x-box 2006 NCAA's graphics are better compared to MVP 2005. I still play the 06 x-box version. Its a solid fun game of b-ball

There's not a lot of difference in the graphics from the previous MVP series really. Maybe a little less in the detailed category but not really enough difference to say EA Sports took a setback in the graphics from the older MVP series. Thanks!

Re: Should I pick up MVP NCAA?

- The graphics and animations are very good for a PS2 title (slightly improved from last year).

- The gameplay and the smoothness of the game are best among baseball titles on the PS2. Very realistic gameplay. Specifically, the batting is arguably the best out there, the fielding is solid, and the pitching is improved from prior MVP titles. Lots of options for batting/pitching/fielding modes and great responsive sliders.

- Dynasty mode is deep, but essentially the same as 06, with no customizable schedules.

- The option to start a game, switch to coach or gamecast mode and then switch back to playing is great, and the game also features good creation tools for schools, players, stadiums and rules (you can use wodden bats for example).

- Good representation of the college baseball feel (except for bad rosters).

- Audio and announcers are decent. Cut scenes are good, though with some lag.

- Player faces/looks leave something to be desired, little variety there.

- Few real life stadiums (20?), some conferences left out, and no alternate uniforms.

- Biggest setback, by far, are the messed up rosters. EA really dropped the ball there, they are completely random and don't represent each team's real life strengths or tendancies.

Bottom Line: For a pure baseball playing experience, this is my choice in 07.

Re: Should I pick up MVP NCAA?

Great summary of this game! And, I agree with your good & bad points about this game. However, I find myself playing The Show far more than MVP. I guess it has more to do with it being a MLB game instead of a college experience. I don't know really. I do love playing both games though. Thanks!
