Exclamation I sure hope this slow board is not indicative of the fate of MVP

Seriously, I want this series to continue... And yes, I mean the NCAA version.

I told myself I wasn't going to get this year's game, but after watching a bunch of early real life college games I got inspired. I also convinced myself that the flaws in the rosters and new pitching meter would just amount to a wash, considering they don't really drag the game down per se.

Anyways, analog pitching... Bleh. I knew I wouldn't like it. So what? Classic is fine for me. The real goody goody is in the engine itself, and what a smooth one it is. Yeah it's pretty much last year's game but I still appreciate it for being it's own unique gem of a game spawned by peculiarities of a peculiar industry. I mean, if you would've told me ten years ago that I'd be playing a college baseball video game in the future I would've liked the idea, but also called you crazy.

So thank you EA, and don't drown your little baby just yet... Especially since I'm already jotting down some super fantastic consumer feedback to help nurture this lonely little game... No bashing either, just goody goody... On it's way to a new thread near you!

I think the amount of effort put into the series' last installment is indicative of MVP NCAA's fate.

Unfortunately, I believe Sully is right. It's sad because college baseball is growing every year, and EA could have kept this series going onto next-gen systems. I guess they just decided it wasn't worth it.

Sad but probably true.

Maybe they squeeze out another on the PS2, though the chances seem slim at this point... And as far as a PS3/360 version... The chances seem to me to be even slimmer.

The grind of the industry is getting... Grindier.

I wish that EA would team up with another Company and release a single system MLB game.

MLB seems to be the only way to go, or is it? Would a High School baseball game be more popular than a college game? A higher percentage of gamers would have played High School ball.

A put together Little League game would be my choice...Little League is where most of us started our love for baseball, I would enjoy a game that would offer a huge first & Last Name Database, plus a huge choice of team names and locations...

I've been watching the Japanese High School Koushien tournament the past few days on cable TV... Totally sweet by the way, I saw some games in person many moons ago and it's very cool... Anyways, MVP 08: Koushien would rock. I know, fat chance, but still...

They'd have to change the hitting animations significantly to capture the bail-happy slap hitters in the Japanese high school ranks... And also do about a thousand different chants in Japanese... Then of course get the umps to say: STRIKU!

Re: I sure hope this slow board is not indicative of the fate of MVP

I have to agree with Sully too on this one! While this baseball game is pretty solid there just is too many other things that will factor into whether this game series will continue. The biggest thing I think going against this game is the low demand/following of college baseball. I am one not included in this category but there are far too many that are included. You also have other baseball games like MLB 2K & The Show that are just flat out gonna do better on sales than MVP NCAA Baseball. While I think MVP NCAA Baseball is just a better game than MLB 2K there still is a bigger demand for Pro baseball games.

Another big thing that I think is seriously going against this game is the lack of a serious roster update. I mean these rosters for this game are 2 years old & a total mess to try & fix. If EA Sports isn't going to update rosters then what's the use in playing a game with players that have left college baseball some time ago? This is my biggest gripe about the game period. They get this fixed & I know I'll continue to buy this game series. The series plays so much like the older MVP series of the professional title(MVP Baseball) but we weren't left playing with outdated rosters. This game is solid IMO but until a few things are addressed then the game is still gonna be way behind other baseball titles. Thanks!

Seriously, High school???? I am going to take a wild guess and say high schools have a MUCH larger percentage of people that have played then the NBA or the NFL. That is a terrible rational. That would sell to high school kids only. Besides that, other problems- #1 rosters, #2 structure of a season, #3 are you going to put in the time edit every single school in your state, #4 where do they draw the line with schools? Think about it the logistics make no sense what so ever.

There is a large fan base for college baseball. Only problem is the hardcore gamers all purchased 360's so going back to a game (which wasnt even made backwards compatible) hurt sales. Even so it still sold alot of titles. Had they not screwed the rosters from the first version even it woud have increased their sales.
