fastball velocity problem

I was just curious why most of the time I was only throwing like 85mph fastballs and 89 was the fastest I threw and this was over about 15 games played. Well I went ahead and created a pitcher and gave him a 95mph fastball and I found that at the very worst I could throw 90mph and when I hit perfect I was only throwing 92mph instead of 95mph. The weird thing was when I was late with the meter I would hit 93-94 and I hit 95mph only once. I don't know if that's an effect like overthrowing and my true best velocity is 92-93 or what. All I know is that when I hit perfect on the meter I am not getting the most velocity. Kinda strange...could just be bug with R&F as it is a new feature.

Re: fastball velocity problem

Out of about 7-8 games one pitcher i have used/faced threw over 90mph. Was weird because I was noticing the same thing.. how no one would throw hard. Then bam a guy was throwing 95's... Can't remember the player but I do know he was on a crap team in my dynasty.

What teams are you guys using? Are they major conference teams?

Because I know hitting 90 is not unusual for pitchers from the bigger schools.

Re: fastball velocity problem

Well my study confirmed that at the very worst you are going to throw 5mph slower then your pitcher's velocity rating. This is if you completley screw up the meter. On perfect pitches however you are still 2-3mph slower but when you are late on the meter you are actually throwing harder then when you are perfect. When I was late on the meter I threw 93-94mph with a 95mph velocity rating.

Re: fastball velocity problem

In '06 and '07 other teams seem to be able recruit nothing but hurlers. I can't find them myself though...even the guys I come across with an 80 or 85 ovr fastball rating don't throw gas. The ones who have good fastball ratings seem to always throw in the mid 80s while guys with a lower rating throw harder. I know velocity isn't the only thing that should be taken into account but you'd think when rating a fastball velocity would be a greater component in the rating.

I'm also trying to figure out why again they give a great majority of recruits outstanding breaking pitches and mediocre fastballs. It should be the other way around, right?

I would like to know what team Max Shurzer (Missouri last seaon) is on now so I can use them against other people. He was 96-98 on last years game.

Re: fastball velocity problem

ok this is plain ridiculous. I just played with #21 for Stanford and he has a 91mph fastball according to his velocity rating. I pitched on average 83mph and fastest I got was 86mph which was late on the meter!! When i was perfect with the meter I would throw 82-83mph.

I wonder if other pitches such as breaking balls and offspeed pitches are effected by this too or if it's just fastballs.

I'm playing with the University of Arizona. With the number one pitcher, I throw 81-83 I think. But my change up is also around the same speed, it's kind of weird.

Re: fastball velocity problem

Has anybody tried going slow when pulling back on the stick to start the windup? I'm at work so I can't try it till tonight but I wonder it trying to time it so that you have it pulled all the way back right when the meter reaches the green zone and then fire forward? I've always just slammed it back and then when it hit the green slammed it forward.
