will component cables make this progressive or widescreen?

Sorry, noskillz,

Component cables won't change the resolution the game's graphics are encoded with. They will help your game and TV "speak the same language more fluently" but they won't allow your TV to teach your game a whole new language... if you get what I'm saying.
