surely?

Is anyone still playing this game, and if so where are all the sliders at. There are still a ton of people playing 2005 and tweaking sliders, but no love for this gae...I want to buy it, but there doesn't seem to be much conversation on this topic. Dowie

I'm still playing it Dowie, and I'm not sure who's sliders I picked up from this board, but I use someone's. If you have any questions, I can answer them.

Re: surely?

Dowie, if you get the game, I suggest you should start out using your 2005 sliders, the game plays pretty close to the 2005 counterpart. That should be a good base to start with if you pick it up.

Re: surely?

I am playing in "Watch Mode" or AD Mode (CPU v CPU). Jistic's AA sliders work amazingly well still, with only minor tweaks.

I love the game.

Re: surely?

Sorry, I have been busy gettin ready to move.

I have really messed with my sliders now. Still fun, but it pisses me off that pitching hardly matters. Good pitchers get rocked pretty hard, often pitching worse than average guys. Too many hits, too many runs. I saw a similar problem in MVP 2005.

So, I am still playing around, but I will post them as soon as I can write them down. I really need to know how challenges/sponsorships affect the game.

Re: surely?

Here ya go:

I watch the games on All-American (no idea what effect this has).

Pitching
Pitch Speed +5
CPU Ball Rate +20
CPU Pitcher Fatigue +5
CPU Pitcher Control +15

Batting
CPU Batting -50
CPU Bunting Ability -5
CPU Foul Ball Frequency +50
CPU Swing Frequency +30
Wind Effect on Balls +8

Fielding
CPU Throw Speed -8
CPU Throw Accuracy -3
CPU Catch Errors +15 (I may drop this to reflect stats from CPU simmed games, rather than real life)
CPU Catch Effort -15

Running
CPU Baserunning Speed -3
CPU Runner Aggression -5
CPU Steal Speed -6
CPU Steal Delay +2
CPU Steal Rate +50

Injuries
Pitcher Injury Frequency -10

================
ALL OTHER SLIDERS = 0
================

It is possible that lowering Pitcher control, Swing Freq, and Ball Rate together might have some effect on batting average and ERA, but I have no idea. It's pretty close right now. I just hate that it seems that good pitchers typically give up a bunch of early runs and carry ERAs in the 5's.

Re: surely?

I am now into my second season. I still really like these. I have just watched four games where only one team had more than ten hits. Both two game series featured good or great pitching vs. average or worse hitting. Very reasonable.

I believe some of what I saw before was before final tweaking, and truthfully a lot of it may have been MY misconception of how good my team was, heheheh!

In any case, no changes to report.

SIDE NOTE: My stud 3B went down in game 5 and I got to put him on medical redshirt! This might be my fave EA game! Better animation and AI than 2005, IMHO.
