Variable Strike Zone question

What is "variable strike zone"? Does it help in making the CPU better at hitting?

Re: Variable Strike Zone question

It makes the strike zone vary from game to game as if there were different homeplate umpires. Some are 'pitcher's' umps and some are tight and help the hitters.

Re: Variable Strike Zone question

Thanks. Yea, that would make sense, but for some reason I thought it might mean something different - one time I turned it on and the CPU had a bunch of hits on balls that were down and away...thought maybe it meant that the cold/hot zones and areas of the strike zone vary. Cool.
