Varsity too easy?

Is anyone finding Varsity default too easy? So far it seems it might be. I'm dominating with lowly Illinois State. The pitching especially seems way to easy.

Has anyone playing on the next level up from Varsity? What are you finding?

I also see the CPU doesn't steal enough. HR's are too easy to hit. However, the CPU rarely has errors either.

I only play on AA, I have a set of sliders that I will release later. I'm having some great game though.

I'm playing on AA...it's not bad. I've played 7 games (one each series), and what basically happens, is I'll score a run in the first, but give up 2 in either the top of the second or bottom of first, and then there will be no scoring for the rest of the game.

I am bouncing back and forth between both levels. I can't decide whether to make the varsity level harder or the AA level a little easier. For some strange reason I feel the varsity level plays a better game at certain times.

I seem to experience that same thing on AA. As far as Varsity, I play with Ohio State, who is rated a B. I was finding Varsity was getting a little too easy, so I have been beefing up the CPU sliders a bit. My biggest problem was getting the CPU to score and being able to dominate them even with my 3rd starter who is subpar. The games have been getting more competitive, but pitching is still a little to pinpoint still, so I will continue to tweak. Here is what I have so far:

Level- Varsity

Gameplay Options
Batting Mode- Analog (L&F)
Throwing Mode- Analog
Variable Strike Zone- On
Batting View- Pitcher6/ Batter4
Strike Zone- On
Hot Cold Zones- Fade
Base Umpire Blown Calls- On
Pitch Cursor- Off
Variable Stuff- On
Vibration- On (this may change if pitching is still too easy)
Everything not listed is default

Gameplay Tuning
Pitching
Pitch Speed -5 (still getting used to the L&F, use your discretion)
CPU Pitch ball Rate 22
CPU Pitcher fatigue -10
User Pitch Control -50
CPU Pitch Control -50
Everthing else is default or 0

Batting
CPU Batting Contact 20
CPU Batting Power 25
CPU Swing Frequency -5
Everything else is default

Fielding
CPU Outfielder Speed -5
CPU Infielder Speed -5
CPU Throw Accuracy -5
CPU catch Errors -10
CPU Catch Effort -5
User Hustle Boost -5
All others are default

Running
CPU Runner Steal Speed -5

Not a whole lot of tweaking, but the games are getting better and better. I also think what team you use plays a big role. Ohio State doesn't have one guy with a power rating over 82 against RHP, which most of the starters on other teams seem to be. I may lower the Human power and contact a bit b/c I can pound out 15 hits a game sometimes, but some games against better pitches, I will only scrape 6-8 hits and 2 runs or so. Had some good games against U. of Miami last night with these too.

Varsity this year is too easy I think. My 3rd game (started on Varsity for my first 3 games) I hit 5 homeruns. It seems like AA is the new pro. I used a modified version of your allstar sliders last year (which were admittedly tilted in favor of the user - and were great, by the way) but so far this year I've been having good games on AA with default sliders. There are definitely some tweaks needed to the defaults though. My power is gonna have to be toned down a bit and maybe contact too.

Re: Varsity too easy?

Varsity too easy? Not for me. I've played 4 games with hitting contact and power amped up for both me and the CPU and I still can't get more than 6 hits in a game. I just dont know what to do, especially since this is an IMPROVEMENT, over what I was doing on L & F.

HR's too easy? Not for me. I have 1, count em, 1 HR.

Re: Varsity too easy?

I have only played 2 games and both on default AA. Lost the first game 4-1 and won the 2nd 3-0. (UNC vs. Northwestern). I have had about 6-8 hits in each game. A lot of errors, but AA seems right for me.

Re: Varsity too easy?

Yep Varsity is too easy for me. I am almost done with my AA sliders. So far I'm pretty happy. One thing to remember when making sliders is to watch what the players ratings are.
Example: CPU had an 80 speed player on 3rd base and the batter hit a fly ball to center. I caught it, and threw home and just barely got him out at home.
I thought that I never should have gotten him. I checked the replay and the runner never left third until maybe 2 seconds after I caught the ball. I checked his base running rating and it was a 45. So he was semi fast but bad skills running.

I'm pretty much done with sliders and have them to where it's on the harder side as far as ptching. I threw 5 walks the last game. I would walk myself if I would lay off balls that bounce on the way in

Re: Varsity too easy?

I think varsity is good but probably will get easier with time. AA might be the way to go. Jistic I can't wait to see your sliders, you put out some damn good ones. Thanks before hand if you do.
