Using Named rosters online

Okay... here's the situation.

I can not used rosters that have been NAMED online. I have noticed that while playing online you can have the rosters with the 1) Random name generator or the 2) USE NUMBERS only methods.

But if you "just" enter the players ACTUAL name they will not be incorporated into the game. I have tried both methods of using the RANDOM NAME generator and then re-naming the players and I have used the default, numbers only roster and neither method has worked.

At first, I thought the problem was because I had altered a player number on Cal State- Fullerton's roster and updated his number from #54 to #31. And I thought that because I had altered the number that the online rosters were not playable because they were modified.

But after RESETTING the rosters to default and naming a few players on my favorite team... and testing these online... I still am not having success with these ROSTERS online.

I really don't know what I'm going to do. I've only named: Louisville, Kentucky, Western Kentucky and Cal State- Fullerton. But I really only use my rosters during ONLINE play and without being able to play games online with these rosters it is USELESS for me to continue.

I mean... first off, it is already bad enough that EA decided to use 2005 season rosters for the 2006 season. But now, I can't even take the 2005 named rosters online and play with them isn't right. If you can use NAMED rosters on NCAA FOOTBALL how hard is it to use the same exact method to bring NAMED rosters with UNALTERED ratings, attributes, appearances online just like the College Football series.

I swear, with EA's different departments they are similar to the US Government and the way we defend this country. No one knows what the other is doing and how they do it.

I love this game... but man. Without the ability to go online and know that when I'm using my Louisville Cardinals that our Leadoff hitter CF Boomer Whiting is at bat -- and not some generic named CF named Jim Bob Cooter -- I can't play this game.

It is utterly ridiculous that EA continues to drop the ball and take one of elements that most people care most about. I could play a game with stick people graphics IF I COULD only EDIT their names and use them ONLINE. I have no idea why EA continues to host all these surveys on their website seeking input from gamers and then they continue to IGNORE the demands of so many. I still fail to see how hard is it to test games while playing online mode so see if ACTUALLY named rosters that were INPUT will appear online instead of RANDOM GENERATED names.

It's also been funny reading the Q & A session with the game developers that continue to state... after we reviewed that we won't be able to do that with this years game. It's almost become the theme of EA games.... If it's in the game, It's not in this years game.

Oh well, it'll probably be the case in seven more months when NCAA debuts on the XBOX 360. We'll continue to hear they didn't have enough time to incorporate it into the game.

Re: Using Named rosters online

That's messed up, man. I was thinking of getting into an online league, but the lack of names will be somewhat of a deterrant. You've gotta wonder what's going on with EA when this kind of stuff happens. NCAA Football has had usable names online for three years now. There are so many holes in this NCAA baseball game that I swear it's intentional. EA figures the game sells well the first year because it's a new concept. Then next year, they add a bunch of features that have been in their other games for years and tout them as "new features."

BAH!

Re: Using Named rosters online

Man, this is a horrible move on their part. I realize they probably had a short amount of time to work on this game, but lets face it, they didn't have to start from a new engine so right there left a fair amount of development time. I mean that names were NOT something new. Could this be done with the College basketball game too? They HAVE to know how much work some of the guys on this board put into rosters and to blatently snub them like that to me is just wrong. I don't make rosters nor I have I really even attempted and this hurts me to know what the roster makers must be feeling.

So, to those of you who pour your hearts into rosters THANK YOU! To EA, get with it! This is a great game and the lack of this feature really brings it down for some. Surr, I will still play online with #'s but come on do you really think thats what everyone wants?
